Director/Intel Solutions
Huntsville, AL

Who We Are

Aurex is a mission-focused aerospace and defense company building the next frontier of deterrence. From hypersonics and missile defense to hardened networks and orbital systems, we design, test, and deliver the platforms that turn unproven ideas into battlefield-ready capability.

Born in Huntsville and built for speed, Aurex brings together aerospace veterans, combat-tested operators, and forward-leaning technologists to solve problems that matterfast. We move from whiteboard to warfighter with precision, clarity, and zero tolerance for fluff.

Position Summary

The Director of Intel Solutions leads Aurex Defense's Intel Solutions business unit within Integrated Mission Systems. The role is responsible for program execution, customer relationship management, technical leadership, personnel leadership, and growth of the Intel Solutions portfolio across MDA, MSIC, and related defense intelligence mission areas.

The Director must be credible with senior technical customers, able to lead cleared technical teams, and capable of turning customer pull into executable work. The role requires a working understanding of missile defense, threat analysis, intelligence production, verification and validation, reverse engineering, and classified mission support. The Director will be expected to protect current delivery, strengthen the pipeline, and position Aurex for growth on current and emerging contract vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Intel Solutions business unit within Integrated Mission Systems, including day-to-day execution, staffing, financial performance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage and grow Intel Solutions work across current and emerging MDA, MSIC, COMET, and related mission areas.
  • Serve as the primary business unit leader for Intel Solutions customer relationships, including technical customers, prime contractor interfaces, and government mission partners.
  • Maintain direct technical credibility with customers in missile defense, countering advanced conventional weapons, intelligence analysis, modeling and simulation, verification and validation, and reverse engineering.
  • Translate customer needs into funded work, task-order opportunities, white papers, staffing plans, and executable program strategies.
  • Lead Intel Solutions personnel, including technical leads, analysts, engineers, and program execution staff, with clear expectations for delivery, accountability, career development, and retention.
  • Partner with Business Development, Contracts, Finance, HR, Security, and other Aurex business unit leaders to shape bids, resolve staffing gaps, manage labor categories, and support contract execution.
  • Support pipeline development for Intel Solutions, including COMET, MSIC, MDA, follow-on work, and other adjacent intelligence mission growth paths.
  • Ensure program execution remains aligned with contract requirements, security constraints, customer expectations, funding availability, and Aurex business objectives.
  • Build a disciplined growth narrative for Intel Solutions that supports Aurex's broader Integrated Mission Systems strategy and enterprise valuation story.
  • Maintain awareness of potential OCI, security, staffing, and customer relationship risks and route them to the appropriate Aurex owner for resolution.
  • Support transition planning from the current Intel Solutions leadership model into a structure where the business unit has dedicated director-level leadership and Dennis Mims can remain fully billable as a senior technical SME.

Required Qualifications

  • Significant experience supporting defense, intelligence, missile defense, or national security technical programs.
  • Demonstrated credibility with MDA, MSIC, DoD intelligence, or closely related mission customers.
  • Experience leading technical teams in classified or controlled mission environments.
  • Ability to manage technical execution, customer relationships, staffing, and business growth at the same time.
  • Strong understanding of contract execution, labor planning, task-order growth, and customer-funded technical services.
  • Ability to operate with senior customers and internal executives without requiring heavy oversight.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical and business issues clearly.
  • Active TS w/ CI-POLY security clearance, with ability to obtain additional accesses as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with MSIC, SCAR, ITASE, IFPTaP, or similar Huntsville-based defense intelligence programs.
  • Electrical engineering, systems engineering, guidance and control, modeling and simulation, threat analysis, or intelligence mission background.
  • Prior experience as a chief engineer, technical director, program lead, or senior mission lead over multiple concurrent efforts.
  • Existing Huntsville customer relationships across MDA, MSIC, Peraton, Parsons, Leidos, Radiance, or related mission partners.
  • Familiarity with reverse engineering, hardware assurance, anti-tamper, missile defense analysis, and advanced conventional weapons mission support.
  • Experience shaping white papers, task-order responses, direct customer pull, and technical growth opportunities.
