Job description

Sr. Director of Technology

We are seeking a senior technical leader to serve as the Enterprise Design Authority and lead the Innovation & Technology organization.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the enterprise architecture strategy across application, integration, data, infrastructure, and security domains. Establish and enforce architecture standards, patterns, and technology decisions across value streams.
  • Lead the architecture review process through a tiered model, focusing on significant design decisions and cross-domain strategy.
  • Oversee the Director of Engineering Enablement and engineering functions including Principal Engineers, Tech Leads, DevOps/Platform, SRE/Observability, and UX. Set engineering standards and ensure consistent execution.
  • Serve as the primary technical counterpart to vendor’s Senior Delivery Lead, ensuring quality and performance expectations and managing architecture resources from strategic partners.
  • Drive the architecture redesign and microservice decomposition strategy, defining handoff standards for new microservices and ensuring A/B failover design.
  • Build and retain deep system knowledge within the teams, documenting, cross‑training, and knowledge sharing to reduce single‑points‑of‑failure.
  • Own the long‑term infrastructure diversification strategy, ensuring disaster recovery capabilities meet RTO business requirements.
What We’re Looking For
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum 8+ years in software engineering/architecture roles, with 3+ years in technical leadership.
  • Proven track record leading enterprise architecture for complex, multi‑system environments.
  • Experience managing onshore and distributed teams in a dedicated or strategic partnership model.
  • Deep expertise in application architecture, API/integration design, data architecture, and cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred).
  • Experience with microservice architecture, event‑driven design, and monolith decomposition strategies.
  • Strong understanding of insurance or financial services technology (rating engines, policy administration, claims, billing).
  • Experience establishing architecture review boards, ADR processes, and design governance frameworks.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on technical credibility.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex technical concepts for executives.
  • Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, SRE, and observability preferred.
  • Player/coach leadership style—define strategy and execute directly.
What’s in It For You
  • Dynamic environment: on‑site role with a fast‑paced, collaborative team culture.
  • Competitive compensation: base pay and performance bonuses.
  • Career growth: mentorship, growth tracks, and professional development.
  • Benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401k, paid holidays, PTO and more.
Physical Requirements

Regularly required to sit, stand, and/or walk around, including stairs. Ability to lift light objects (≤25 lbs), bend, twist, or squat to open cabinets, and use standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones.
