Job description

Color touches everything from packaging to printed materials, and the chemistry behind it never stands still.  A global leader in ink and coatings manufacturing is looking for a UV Liquid R&D Chemist to help push that chemistry forward — solving real technical challenges for customers, building formulations that meet exacting specs, and bringing fresh ideas to an established product line.

This is a hands-on lab role for someone who likes variety: one day it's diagnosing a stubborn cure or adhesion issue, the next it's developing a brand-new UV screen ink from a blank page. You'll have a direct hand in shaping products that make it into customers' hands, with room to grow expertise across UV, EB, and coatings technologies along the way.

This direct hire role will join our global client’s Research & Development department at our client’s facility located on the western edge of DuPage County roughly 30 miles west of the Chicago Loop.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Resolve technical issues with existing technologies and support customer-specific challenges
  • Create new UV Flexo and UV Screen Ink formulations based on customer specifications
  • Conduct work on EB Liquid and UV/EB Coating products
  • Assess raw materials and improve formulations for cost reduction
  • Supply technical guidance to manufacturing operations
  • Prepare project documentation for sales and customer distribution
  • Manage and maintain laboratory equipment

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or equivalent credential
  • Minimum five years of chemistry-related professional experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in ink and coating formulation
  • Strong foundational mathematics and science abilities
  • Proficient organizational and documentation skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and reading comprehension abilities
  • Capacity to evaluate data and draw meaningful conclusions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with UV/EB Liquid Ink and Coatings technology
  • Background in formulation and application work
  • SAP software proficiency

Benefits

Health insurance, Paid time off, Dental insurance, 401(k), 401(k) matching, Retirement plan, Vision insurance, Life insurance, Health savings account, Flexible spending account, Parental leave, Employee assistance program
