Whitney Academy, Inc. is a nationally recognized leader in providing specialized residential treatment for adolescent boys with cognitive impairments, complex psychiatric diagnoses, and histories of sexualized behaviors.


Whitney Academy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Nursing to lead our health services department. You will be responsible for the overall coordination, delivery, and documentation of comprehensive health services—including medical, dental, psychiatric, and health education—for our students.


As the Director of Nursing, you will ensure our care remains in strict accordance with The Joint Commission standards and regulations from DESE, OCCS, and DPH.


Director of Nursing (RN)

Schedule: Monday–Friday (Full-Time)


Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Oversight: Manage the 24/7 medication administration process, ensuring accurate documentation, staff training, and certification.
  • Supervision: Provide administrative and clinical leadership to nursing staff and nurse aides; oversee personnel involved in medical care plans.
  • Case Management: Implement physician orders for medications, treatments, and diagnostic tests; oversee all student medical and dental appointments.
  • Reporting & Planning: Lead treatment planning within the medical domain, including IEP/ISP goals, progress notes, and status reports.
  • Education: Coordinate health education programs for both staff (First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, Infection Control) and students (Anatomy, Hygiene).
  • Compliance: Maintain student insurance information and ensure adherence to all state and federal regulatory standards.
  • Leadership: Oversee the Infection Control Committee and remain available for consultation with on-call staff as needed.


Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; advanced nursing degrees (MSN) preferred.
  • Licensure: Must hold a current Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of direct nursing experience; previous supervisory or nursing leadership experience is highly preferred.
