Job description

Summary

  • POSITION INFORMATION
    • Position summary:
      • The IP is trained in hospital epidemiology principles and is responsible for the surveillance, analysis, interpretation and reporting of hospital acquired infections; education of employees and other hospital staff about infection prevention; evaluating patient care practices; compliance with policy and procedure to ensure rigorous infection control standards that meet Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, ODH, CDC and other national organized agencies recommendation and requirements. The IP will work under the direction of, and in collaboration with, the Director of Quality Management.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Education:
      • Registered nurse (BSN) or MT (ASCP) with current Ohio license or certification. Certification in infection control (CIC) preferred

    • Required length and type of experience:
      • Five years experience in a hospital setting
        • Three years of Infection Control experience required or
        • Experience with Key principles of Infection control, Hand Hygiene, PPE, Respiratory Hygiene and Cough Etiquette, Safe Injection Practices, Environmental Cleaning, Infection Monitoring and Surveillance, Aseptic Technique, Waste disposal and Education and Training.
        • Working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
        • Knowledge in microbiology, education, TJC standards, CMS conditions of participation, OSHA,
        • HICPAC and NHSN preferred.
        • Prefer documented experience in performance improvement, statistics, employee health, and/or safety/risk management

    • Required licensure, certification or registry:
      • Registered nurse (BSN preferred) or MT (ASCP) with current Ohio license or certification. Certification in infection control (CIC) preferred.
