Job Summary and Qualifications
  1. Position Summary: The Infection Prevention Director is responsible for the prevention, detection and control of infections in the facility and responsible for the direction of the Infection Prevention Program.  The individual is responsible for establishing, instituting and maintaining an effective system for evaluation and reporting infections in patients.  All of this shall be accomplished based on a systematic body of professional knowledge.  When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by the VP Quality and Patient Safety.  


  1. Position Requirements: 


  1.  Licensure/Certification/Registration:  


  1. Infection Control Surveillance course (CIC) required.  


  1. Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado (or current active multistate RN license), or current Medical Technologist licensure preferred.  


  1. Education:  Degree in nursing, medical technology or bachelor’s in science. A master’s in public health or related field, preferred. 


  1.  Experience: Demonstrated three years of previous infection control experience, or related areas such as nursing or microbiology.  


  1.  Skills and Training: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members.  Strong critical thinking skills and project management.  Demonstrates knowledge of microbiology, normal flora, pathogens and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
