Position Summary
Are you passionate about mentoring the next generation of leaders and making a lasting impact? If so, we want to talk to you about joining our team as a Community Director (CD) starting in July 2026!
This is a full-time, 10-month professional staff position within the Office of Residential Life and Education and the Student Affairs Division at Doane University. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Residential Life and Education, the CD fosters a residential experience rooted in the values of Community, Inclusion, and Empowerment.
The Community Director creates a safe, welcoming, and engaging living-learning environment for approximately 130-170 residential students. Through mentorship, educational initiatives, restorative practices, and collaborative partnerships, the CD supports student development, a sense of belonging, promotes leadership opportunities, and academic success.
The CD directly supervises Community Advisors (CAs) (3-6 students) and serves as an educator, mentor, crisis responder, and advocate for students within the residential community.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus one (1) year of experience working in a residence hall.
Your experience must demonstrate a strong commitment to student growth and development, diversity and inclusion, and working within an innovative environment that is focused on the education of individuals and groups of college students within a residential setting through the development of cohesive living and learning communities.
We are looking for someone who will work collaboratively with campus partners and is able to apply their knowledge of student development theory and best practices in student affairs. The role requires strong administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills and a basic understanding of Google Suite software.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Residential Curriculum models, motivational interviewing, ACUHO-I Standards, CAs Standards, and NASPA Learning Reconsidered is preferred.

  • Evening and weekend responsibilities required
