We are now hiring for full time Camp Counselors and Assistant Camp Counselors, a part-time Summer Day Camp Attendant, and a full-time Assistant Camp Director.

Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center Purpose Statement: Inspire people to discover their God given talents and develop their potential through artistic, educational, physical, and spiritual experiences in a Christ-centered atmosphere.
Summary/Primary Purpose: The Camp Kroc Counselor is responsible for following the leadership of the Camp Kroc Lead Counselor in providing leadership and direction for camp youth as assigned. Will assist with guidance while monitoring summer day camp activities at The Salvation Army Kroc Center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent customer service, leadership and mentoring to all day camp children, guests, staff and volunteers of all ages, ethnicity, and backgrounds.
  • Proactively ensure a safe and clean environment for all day camp staff, volunteers, members and participants.
  • Assist the Camp Lead as directed with monitoring activities provided by the day camp program including programming in all areas (i.e. gym, sports fields, pools, game room, classrooms, resource room, theater, festival plaza, etc.)
  • Report and/or assist with any behavior issues or re-direction needed to the Camp Lead and/or Camp Coordinator.
  • Provide additional support to all Kroc Center program staff, instructors, interns, and volunteers.
  • Participate in designated staff training.
  • Attend all scheduled team and staff meetings as directed by the Education Department.
  • The work schedule is Monday-Friday and may include a pre or post weekend day or evening event.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Education and/or Experience: Must be at least 18 years old. High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and experience in working with children.
Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.
  • Good communication skills including interpersonal skills.
  • English proficiency required; Spanish language skills helpful.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Exceptional flexibility and ability to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate and work within a team.
  • Attention to detail, creative problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters
  • Strong independent judgement.
  • General computer knowledge is required to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system. Intermediate skills in Microsoft software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.

Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a TSA or personal vehicle on The Salvation Army business.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must successfully complete Safe from Harm, CPR, and AED training provided within 30 days of hire as established by The Salvation Army.
