Description

Guardians of Honor (GOH) is a small management consulting firm supporting the federal government since 1997 (www.gohnow.com). We are seeking experienced STEM education professionals to support the operation of our DoD STARBASE Academy client at Patrick Space Force Base, Florida. 


GOH is recruiting in anticipation of potential future openings that are subject to final approval and funding. No guarantee of position availability can be made at this time; however, candidate identification and preliminary interviews are being conducted to support timely hiring should authorization be granted.

Position Overview 

The STARBASE Director develops, supervises, directs, organizes, and manages the day-to-day operations of the STARBASE Academy, including personnel supervision, curriculum and program compliance, community and school partnerships, and all required government reporting. The Director serves as the program's primary liaison to installation leadership, school district administrators, and the COR. 


Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide overall supervision and management of the STARBASE program and facility 
  • Serve as a building Manager for the STARBASE facility, safeguarding all Government property and performing physical security responsibilities: act as custodian of record for Government issued facility keys and immediately report any lost, stolen, or duplicated keys to the COR 
  • Supervise all program personnel (Instructors, Instructor Assistants, Office Manager) and conduct staff development 
  • Implement Standard Operating Procedures and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with local school agencies 
  • Coordinate, supervise, and administer program requirements, marketing plan, and business plan; update annually and obtain COR approval prior to implementation 
  • Represent the program at initial and annual training conferences  
  • Implement required program guidelines, policies, and procedures; submit any waivers in writing to the Contracting Officer's Representative prior to implementation 
  • Develop and coordinate partnerships with schools, businesses, and government agencies 
  • Ensure the STARBASE program meets operations requirements  
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports to the COR within 10 calendar days of month-end, including class schedule, districts/schools served, student counts, vacancies, community support updates, complaints, and volunteer activity 
  • Maintain quality control of official documents (purchase orders, contracts, schedules, MOUs) 
  • Maintain control and inventory of equipment and supplies purchased with STARBASE program funds 
  • Coordinate with schools on required documentation, including applications, enrollment forms, and data collection 
  • Formulate and update program goals, objectives, and strategies; provide written updates to the COR prior to implementation 
  • Assist district teachers with completion of the online STARBASE survey; complete evaluations, conduct surveys, collect data, and prepare statistical summaries 
  • Plan completion ceremonies, secure guest speakers, and prepare/facilitate ceremony presentations 
  • Schedule and staff the Academy so that a minimum of two STARBASE staff members are present at all times whenever students are on site 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a STEM field or education 
  • At least 5 years of experience in elementary education/administration or program management (preferred) 
  • Must pass security and background checks for working in a DoD facility and with children - no interaction with children is authorized until a preliminary background check is completed 

Additional Qualifications 

  • Knowledge of internet-based tools 
  • Knowledge of strategic planning, business plan development, marketing strategies, and budgeting 
  • Experience in education, supervision, and management of educational programs 
  • Knowledge of program evaluation methods and development of outcome measures 
  • Ability to work effectively with public officials, military leaders, school district liaisons, the Patrick Space Force Base school liaison officer, and community/corporate leaders 
  • Ability to travel as needed to fulfill job requirements 
  • Completion of criminal history background check  

Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes. The Director supervises all STARBASE Academy personnel, including Program Instructors, Instructor Assistants, and the Office Manager. 


Reports to: GOH Director of Operations  


Work Environment: Onsite at the DoD STARBASE facility; Patrick Space Force Base (Satellite Beach, FL). 


Physical demands: The physical demands of the job include sitting for extended periods, and occasional walking and standing. 


Position type and expected hours of work: Full-time, exempt. Core hours are 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. 


Travel: Approximately 10% local and regional travel, with overnight stays necessary. 


Required education and experience: Bachelor's degree required; 5+ years relevant experience preferred.Â
