Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to hire a Specialty Systems Engineering Manager 2 overseeing Human Factors Engineering on the Sentinel Human Systems Integration (HSI) Specialty Engineering team. This position will be located in Roy, UT. This role may offer a competitive relocation package.


What You'll Get To Do:

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of human factors engineers / HSI specialists supporting a complex weapon system program.
Plan and prioritize HFE scope, staffing, and budgets in coordination with program management and systems engineering.
Establish and maintain HFE engineering practices, standards, and review processes across the program.
Ensure designs adhere to relevant HFE and military standards (e.g., MIL-STD-1472, MIL-STD-882) and customer specifications.
Partner with Systems, Software, Hardware, Safety, Cyber, Training, and Logistics Engineering to integrate HFE considerations throughout the system lifecycle (requirements, design, integration, test, and sustainment).
Participate in design reviews, trade studies, and technical risk assessments, advocating for human-centered design decisions.
Support customer, user, and internal reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.) with HFE content and rationale.
Closely coordinate and collaborate with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), USAF, executive leadership, Office of Chief Engineers (OCE), suppliers and IWO partners to ensure that human performance, usability, and safety are integrated early and continuously throughout the system life-cycle.
Establish key initiatives in support of the organization's strategic and tactical plans.
Collaborate with peers and other leaders for resource planning and staffing activities.
Coach, support, train, and motivate team members to ensure a high level of performance.
Support staffing activities including the creation of requisitions, conducting interviews, and approving offers.
Provide subordinates with career development recommendations, mentoring, and performance counseling.
Foster a working environment which reinforces and drives accountability to fundamental Northrop Grumman Values focused on integrity, quality, shared success, and innovation.
Establish personal, program, and functional goals as well as conduct performance evaluations and merit adjustments for subordinates.

This position's standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 8 years of related experience, or a master's degree with 6 years of related experience.

Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

1+ year of Experience managing to cost and schedule as a Control Account Manager (CAM)/Work Package Lead (WPL) or equivalent.
1+ year of Program and/or Project management experience, managing multidisciplinary teams through complex engineering problems.
1+ year of Experience working on Command and Control systems or Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) programs.
1+ year of Experience with Human Factors in a defense contracting environment

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

Special Program Access.
Master's Degree in STEM.
NG CAM/EV Certification.
Active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.
Large scale / complex system development experience across multiple phases of a development program: preliminary design, detailed design, integration and test, verification and sell off, transition to production.
Strong understanding and broad application of complex engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.) for the development of complex systems of systems.
Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.
Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
Prior experience leading 10+ person teams
Previous experience managing employee performance and professional development
Experience working on MMIII or Sentinel ICBM systems.

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,100.00 - $208,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
