Are you a driven, strategic sales leader with a passion for hospitality and a proven ability to grow revenue? DoubleTree by Hilton Rochester is seeking an experienced Director of Sales & Marketing to lead our hotel’s sales strategy, strengthen market presence, and drive top-line performance.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a full-service Hilton property during a dynamic period of transformation, including a renovation in 2025. The ideal candidate is a results-oriented leader who thrives on building relationships, creating strategic action plans, mentoring teams, and identifying new revenue opportunities across guest rooms, meetings, events, and food and beverage.

As Director of Sales & Marketing, you will play a key role in shaping the hotel’s success by maximizing occupancy, increasing ADR, expanding market share, and elevating the guest and client experience.

What You’ll Do

As Director of Sales & Marketing, you will:

  • Lead all sales activities to ensure achievement of revenue plan goals
  • Develop the annual Revenue Plan in collaboration with the Executive Committee
  • Prepare sales and marketing budgets, forecasts, and action plans
  • Produce, implement, and monitor strategic initiatives to achieve budgeted performance
  • Analyze market trends and demand patterns to grow revenue, occupancy, and rate
  • Procure new and repeat business through direct sales efforts and account development
  • Build and maintain relationships with corporate accounts, travel agencies, event planners, airlines, associations, wholesalers, and other key market segments
  • Execute targeted sales programs to increase room revenue, banquet sales, and business during need periods
  • Coordinate with regional and worldwide sales offices, with particular focus on local market opportunities
  • Plan and conduct sales trips and attend industry events to promote the hotel
  • Meet with major clients and event organizers to ensure satisfaction and strengthen partnerships
  • Organize and attend key sales and public relations functions at the hotel
  • Review daily business levels, anticipate challenges, and collaborate with department heads on solutions
  • Lead weekly Yield Committee meetings to review demand patterns and adjust ADR strategy
  • Set performance goals for each sales manager and coach the team toward success
  • Oversee departmental hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance reviews, counseling, and discipline as needed
  • Identify training needs and ensure all training is planned and executed in accordance with Hilton standards
  • Prepare written communications and presentations for the General Manager and leadership team
  • Communicate market conditions, occupancy trends, and need periods to the Executive Committee
  • Build strong internal and external relationships to drive collaboration, commitment, and results

What You Bring

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven leadership experience in hotel sales and marketing
  • Strong knowledge of key market segments, including corporate, group, meetings, tour and travel, FIT, and incentive business
  • Demonstrated success in forecasting, budgeting, revenue planning, and departmental P&L analysis
  • Experience developing and executing both short- and long-term strategic plans
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with the ability to structure efforts and allocate resources effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation development and public speaking
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build, motivate, and develop a high-performing team
  • A proactive leadership style and the ability to drive change and continuous improvement
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to make decisions that strengthen the hotel’s financial performance
  • Proficiency in Delphi, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • The ability to enforce hotel standards, policies, and procedures
  • The ability to prioritize, delegate, problem-solve, and exercise sound judgment
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to build positive relationships across departments
  • Previous exposure to other hotel departments, preferably Front Office and Food & Beverage

Education & Experience

  • College degree or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Director of Sales and/or Marketing in a large group or convention-focused hotel environment

Physical Requirements

  • Long hours may occasionally be required
  • Light work, including exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently or constantly to move objects

Pay Range: $90,000 - $100,000 / year
