Position Overview

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Business Development to lead our hospice growth initiatives. This role is responsible for expanding referral networks, driving admissions, and positioning Sequoia Hospice as the provider of choice in the East Bay community.

Pay Range:
$140,000 – $170,000 per year + Incentive Structure
Job Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans to increase hospice referrals and admissions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with physicians, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, case managers, and other referral sources.
  • Lead and mentor a team of community liaisons and sales professionals.
  • Conduct market assessments and identify growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational leadership to ensure seamless referral and admission processes.
  • Negotiate service agreements with payers, managed care organizations, and healthcare partners.
  • Represent Sequoia Hospice at community events, professional forums, and outreach initiatives.
  • Monitor performance metrics and report outcomes to executive leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and payer requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in healthcare business development, preferably in hospice or home health.
  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of driving growth and managing teams.
  • Strong understanding of hospice care models, Medicare eligibility, and referral processes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and performance reporting tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
