Job Title

Product Director, Clover Hardware

We're looking for a Product Director to own the strategy and roadmap for Clover's POS hardware portfolio and accessories ecosystem. This is a senior role at the intersection of hardware engineering, manufacturing, payments, and merchant experience. You'll need to focus on how hardware decisions translate into business outcomes, including adoption, merchant satisfaction, margins, churn reduction, and competitive win rates.

You'll define what Clover merchants use every day to run their businesses and generate revenue. And you'll work across engineering, finance, sales, commercialization, and product marketing teams to ensure the portfolio wins in the market.

Product Strategy & Vision

  • Develop a comprehensive hardware product strategy aligned with Clover's overall mission, business priorities, and annual operating plan.

  • Create a product vision and multi-year roadmap across Clover's device portfolio and accessories ecosystem, balancing our vertical strategies, merchant needs, cost targets, and competitive positioning.

  • Identify emerging trends and technological advancements that can be applied to the POS hardware space to drive competitive differentiation.

  • Define our hardware accessories and peripherals strategy, spanning first-party products (such as sleeves and stands) and third-party partner integrations (such as kitchen scales). Outline attach rate goals, and build/buy/partner decisions in close coordination with industrial design, finance, and sales channel teams.

  • Develop a clear point of view on hardware's role in merchant acquisition and retention, and use that to drive prioritization decisions and investment cases.

  • Represent the hardware product team in executive reviews, partner conversations, and strategic planning cycles.

Product Development & Roadmapping

  • Drive the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from ideation through launch, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery of reliable, scalable, secure, and compliant hardware products.

  • Collaborate with engineering and industrial design teams to define product requirements and cost targets.

  • Work closely with hardware engineering, industrial design, and manufacturing partners to efficiently guide new products through the EVT, DVT, and PVT stages.

  • Drive EMV and PCI certification strategy, coordinating with certification labs to ensure compliant, timely launches.

  • Lead international hardware expansion planning, including regional certification requirements and competitive landscape assessment.

  • Translate product delivery and roadmap execution into measurable revenue outcomes and KPI performance.

Go-To-Market

  • Develop deep understanding of Clover's target merchant segments (restaurant, retail, services, healthcare) and translate segment-level needs into hardware differentiation and go-to-market strategy.

  • Partner closely with product marketing, finance, sales channels, and business development teams to align on roadmaps, positioning, value propositions, messaging, and pricing.

  • Partner with hardware fulfillment teams to ensure hardware packaging and economics work for Clover's distribution model.

Customer Focus

  • Conduct in-depth market and user research to understand merchant and consumer pain points and the competitive landscape.

  • Gather and analyze customer feedback, operational data, failure rates, and other telemetry data to understand opportunities for improvement.

  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention by delivering secure, compliant, and reliable payment experiences.

Team & Financial Leadership

  • Foster a culture of data-informed decision-making that is based on the needs of our target merchants and the financial performance goals of the organization.

  • Manage and develop a team of PMs focused on specific device lines or capability areas.

  • Define and track KPIs spanning hardware quality and field performance through to commercial metrics - attach rates and device-linked retention.

What You Will Need to Have:

  • 8+ years of product management experience, with at least 3 years focused on hardware or hardware-adjacent products in payments, fintech, or consumer electronics, including accessories, peripherals, or full device ecosystems.

  • Experience managing hardware portfolios that span both owned products and third-party partner integrations, including vendor selection, commercial negotiation, and go-to-market coordination.

  • Demonstrated ability to connect hardware decisions to business outcomes - pricing, packaging, channel fit, and merchant value proposition.

  • An understanding of the payments ecosystem - EMV standards, PCI compliance, card- present transaction flows, and acquirer/network relationships.

  • Experience taking hardware products through full development cycles, including ODM/OEM partnerships and certification processes.

  • Strong analytical and commercial instincts - comfortable with market sizing, cost- benefit tradeoffs, build/buy/partner decisions, and business case development.

  • Excellent cross-functional leadership; able to align engineering, design, sales, operations, and commercial teams around a shared roadmap.

  • Experience with SMB or merchant-facing products strongly preferred.

  • International product experience (EMEA, APAC, or LATAM) a plus.

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or engineering background a plus.

Travel Requirements:
This position requires the ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of your time depending on business needs.

Visa Requirements:

Individuals with temporary visas including, but not limited to, F-1 (OPT, CPT, STEM), H-1B, H-2, or TN, or any candidate requiring sponsorship, now or in the future, will not be considered for this role.
