Position Summary

The Memorial Medical Center Foundation (MMCF) raises and stewards philanthropic support for Long Beach Medical Center (LBMC) and Miller Children's and Women's Hospital (MCWH). Working collaboratively with a growing philanthropy team and hospital staff, the Director of Patient Navigation and Physician Engagement for MMCF will serve as liaison between MMCF and both LBMC and MCWH. The Director of Patient Navigation and Physician Engagement will facilitate special non-clinical support for prospective and established patients to access medical services as well as functions as a collaborative team member alongside other staff in MMCF as well as other hospital staff. The Director of Patient Navigation and Physician Engagement will report to the Executive Director of Gift Planning and Development.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job:

         Supports and operationalizes the mission statement, vision, values, and plans of the MMCF, LBMC and MMCF, and actively works to enhance the reputation of MMCF, LBMC, and MCWH with all constituents.

         Strengthens and promotes the public image, mission, philosophy and values of the organization with public and private agencies, individuals, corporations and foundations to define the role philanthropy plays in supporting research, and healthcare programs. Ensures the effective communication of organizational vision, mission and values to all constituents.

         Stewards patients who are major donors and prospects with the intent to increase a positive relationship to LBMC and MCWH. Supports efforts to enhance the level of hospitality and facilitated access across both hospitals for major donors and prospects when they are in need of care services. As appropriate, makes referrals to Development Officers for philanthropic follow-up for the grateful patient program.

         Serves as a point person to ensure that LBMC and MMCF national and international patients receive the kind of quality attention that mirrors the remarkable medical care provided by our physicians, nurses and other caregivers.

         Performs initial interface with patients and families. Welcomes and greets; and through 24/7 availability, offers support and assistance during and between appointments and in-patient visits. Assists patients and families navigate their visits and works to ensure service excellence.

         Supports and coordinates the expansion and enhancement of physician and medical staff engagement and partnership with the foundation in fundraising activity.

        Interfaces with physicians and other medical staff around patient care support; coordinating referrals to Department of Supportive Care Medicine colleagues and services as appropriate. Supports efforts to engage physicians in the philanthropic process.

         Utilizes the tracking and reporting process for department activities to ensure the highest level of customer service throughout the patients' entire experience at LBMC and MWCH.

         Provides HIPAA compliant regular feedback to MMCF in a timely fashion with respect to the referred patients and their families' overall experience at LBMC and MWCH.

         Follows established MMCF and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan. Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining patient confidentiality and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and California law relating to the privacy and security of patient information.

         Performs other duties as assigned.

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

Minimum 10 years' concierge or patient special services healthcare, development, or similar experience preferred.

Minimum 5 years' leadership experience preferred.

Education/Licensure/Certification:

Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or other related field required.
