Job description

From initial inquiry through enrollment, the Graduate Admissions Counselor provides personalized guidance and support, helping prospective students confidently navigate each step of the admissions process. Through dynamic outreach efforts, including events and community engagement, this position promotes the university's offerings while fostering strong, lasting relationships.
In addition, the role serves as a trusted resource, connecting prospective students with key campus offices and ensuring a seamless, informed decision-making experience. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by empowering students to pursue advanced education in a supportive, mission-driven environment.
Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • Enrolls prospective graduate students to attend LMU's Seaver College of Science and Engineering Graduate Programs.
  • Guide students through the admissions and enrollment decision-making process
  • Present to prospective students the best case for enrolling as a graduate student within Seaver
  • Conduct individual and group student meetings both on and off campus.
  • Maintain professional and consistent communication and relationships with program directors and faculty.
  • Manage a distinct group of prospective students through the admissions process using a Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) with the support of Admissions Operations
  • Record all interactions with prospective students appropriately within the CRM.
  • Maintain regular communication with a distinct group of prospective students to encourage and support them through the admissions and enrollment decision-making process.
  • Work with Seaver staff, faculty and administration on both community and regional activities and events including occasional travel as needed.
  • Serve as an articulate spokesperson for the mission, vision, and values of LMU.
  • Complete tasks timely with work that is comprehensive, complete, and accurate.
  • Communicates clearly, listens attentively, and seeks to understand others.
  • Collaborates productively with colleagues of varying skillset.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Requisite Qualifications
  • Typically a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. A master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in graduate recruitment, admissions, enrollment management, higher education outreach, or related work with adult learners or corporate clients.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of graduate admissions processes, policies, and cross-campus collaboration.
  • Advanced experience with CRM systems such as Slate and Banner highly preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong advising skills with sensitivity to individual student needs and strict adherence to confidentiality standards.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, detail-oriented, and results-driven, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
