Job description

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • 10 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 8 years with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
  • Experience implementing new accounting guidelines or processes, and translating accounting concepts for non-finance business stakeholders.
  • Experience with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards (specifically Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) 810, 323, and 606) and associated SOX control compliance.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Ability to have strong attention to detail, organizational skills and focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to have a collaborative style and work with cross-functional and international teams.
  • Ability to own projects and lead others (direct or indirect) to meet deadlines while maintaining quality of the work.
  • Ability to remove and anticipate roadblocks with the potential to impede progress.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to communicate effectively with executive management.

Google accountants are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities at Google. You know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. Every day is a new challenge, and you're continually looking for ways to help our team become more efficient and effective. A team player at heart, you collaborate with our global team, advocate best practices and pitch in where needed. You move fast while keeping your attention to detail, and you tap into your problem-solving skills to support business objectives.
You'll lead an accounting process from end-to-end. Other responsibilities include reconciling balance sheets and P&L accounts, and providing supplementary financial information for internal and external reports.
In this role, you will require a wide breadth and depth of skills from accounting, cross-functional engagement (Controllership, FP&A, Tax), and project management, to the ability to navigate ambiguity and manage, build, and develop an accounting team. You will lead crucial monthly and quarterly Variable Interest Entity (VIE) consolidation assessments, oversee global revenue-related issue tracking, and manage consolidated revenue reporting and associated controls.

Responsibilities
  • Engage with key stakeholders monthly and quarterly for consolidated and unconsolidated Variable Interest Entities (VIE) to oversee key accounting treatment. This includes maintaining the VIE assessment process, compiling reporting, preparing accounting entries, and managing ongoing processes and controls.
  • Track global revenue-related issues, manage consolidated revenue reporting and presentation, establish associated controls and continuously enhance the day-to-day processes and control environment.
  • Develop and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with Controllership, Financial Planning and Analysis, and Tax to support company-wide initiatives while maintaining compliance with global policies.
  • Lead special projects and drive process and policy improvements that support the growth of the organization.
  • Communicate complex integration strategies and key accounting issues effectively to different levels of leadership through high-quality presentations and reports, facilitating collaborative problem-solving and decision-making.
