The Role

The FFIO Pricing & Billing Technology team is seeking an experienced Director, Full Stack Engineering to accelerate support for alternative investments across our billing platform initiatives and drive new capabilities and enhancements. This role provides technical leadership with a focus on engineering excellence and business outcomes. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Partner with product leaders to refine requirements, decompose epics into user stories, and deliver high-quality solutions that meet business expectations.

  • Align technology initiatives with business goals, delivering scalable, future-ready platforms.

  • Contribute hands-on to development ~30% of the time.

  • Champion adoption of AI-driven development tools to accelerate delivery and improve productivity.

  • Mentor engineers, building frameworks for skill development, career growth, and leadership.

  • Establish and enforce coding standards, design patterns, and best practices; ensure strong code review and quality processes.

  • Foster a "tightly aligned, loosely coupled" model by strengthening partnerships, promoting enterprise standards, and enabling team autonomy.

  • Apply innovative technology perspectives to solve complex problems requiring speed and scale.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • 12+ years of hands-on full stack development experience using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Camel, JMS, Apache Kafka, Oracle (or other relational databases), and deploying applications in Kubernetes environments

  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks and tools, including Angular, TypeScript, Node.js, NPM, and RxJS

  • Strong foundation in software engineering principles and design patterns, with a focus on engineering excellence and the ability to reverse engineer and understand existing systems

  • Proven delivery focus with full ownership mindset; track record of driving innovation and transformation through emerging technologies and architectural modernization

  • Ability and aspiration to define and drive technology roadmaps, including engineering standards, architecture direction, and product evolution

  • Experience building and leading high-performing teams in fast-paced, collaborative environments, with a focus on delivering business outcomes

  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills; adaptable, hands-on, proactive, and curious with a "can-do" attitude

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline (preferred)

  • Experience modernizing legacy systems and building digital workflows (preferred)

  • Experience developing or modernizing applications within financial services or asset management, particularly alternative investments (preferred)

The Team

Fidelity Fund Investment Operations (FFIO) provides accounting and investment management support services for Fidelity mutual funds and other retail and institutional investment products. These services include calculating and distributing NAVs, distribution rates and yields for a wide variety of investment products; preparing fund financial statements, dividend estimates and tax returns; monitoring delivery of fund trades to custodian banks; processing corporate actions; collecting securities income on behalf of the funds; reconciling, reporting, and moving money in support of fund shareholder transactions; and managing fund liquidity.

Fidelity's Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
