Director of Flight Operations and Safety


Position Type: Full-Time / Exempt

Primary Location: Huntsville, AL or Remote

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer

Direct Reports: Chief Pilot Turbine, Chief Pilot Piston

Interfaces With: COO, VP of Business Development, Director of Acquisition, Director of Maintenance, Project Managers

Travel: 20%

Position Summary

Revolution Geosystems, LLC (RevGeo) is seeking an experienced Director of Flight Operations and Safety to lead our growing Aerial Survey Flight Operations. This leadership role requires a self-motivated professional with deep aviation and geospatial expertise to oversee safety, operations, project management, and client relationships.

Our directors are expected to foster a positive company culture built on respect, collaboration, and mutual support. The ideal candidate will champion a proactive safety culture where open communication, continuous learning, and accountability are foundational to every mission.




Position Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide executive oversight for all flight operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and regulatory-compliant utilization of the company’s aircraft fleet.

  • Safety Management: Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure compliance with FAA regulations and foster a robust, transparent safety culture across the entire organization.

  • Personnel & Training: Oversee the management, recruitment, and professional development of flight crews, including the implementation of standardized training programs and coordination of pilot schedules.

  • Client & Operational Excellence: Develop and maintain strong client relationships, coordinate maintenance schedules to minimize client impact, and leverage technical expertise to improve business processes and workflows.

  • Administrative & Financial Oversight: Monitor financial aspects of projects, create status reports, and provide technical and analytical guidance to the project team.




Qualifications & Technical Skills

Experience:

  • Minimum 7-10 years of aviation operations experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or management capacity.

  • Demonstrated experience leading or managing an FAA-compliant Safety Management System (SMS) or equivalent risk assessment programs.

  • Aerial survey data collection experience preferred. Familiarity with large-format airborne sensors is a plus.

  • Experience creating technical and project documentation and reports.

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.

Professional & Technical Expertise:

  • Proficiency in aviation management software, geospatial data platforms (ESRI products, Global Mapper, QGIS, etc.), and general office software (MS Office, Google Workspace).

  • Strong working knowledge of FAA Regulations (FARs) and the National Airspace System.

  • Ability to support operations in determining best practices and innovative technical workflows.
