Description

Depatie is seeking a strong Director of Finance who wants to play a meaningful role in building financial discipline inside a growing distribution business. This role combines hands-on financial leadership, operational partnership, and strategic support as the company continues to scale through both organic growth and acquisitions.

This is a role for someone who enjoys working inside the business-owning the numbers, improving financial processes, and partnering with leaders across operations, sales, and engineering to drive performance.

The Director of Finance is responsible for leading the financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions of the business while partnering closely with operations to improve performance across the company.

This role will work directly with the President and executive leadership team to provide financial insight, strengthen forecasting and budgeting processes, and support disciplined growth.

This position combines strategic financial leadership with hands-on execution, including direct involvement in reporting, analysis, budgeting, and financial systems.

What You'll Do

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead the company's budgeting and forecasting process by business segment, providing clear financial visibility across locations and business units
  • Develop and maintain monthly forecasts, financial models, and operating dashboards
  • Analyze segment profitability, margin trends, and cost structure to identify improvement opportunities

Operational Finance

  • Partner with leaders in Sales, Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to drive performance and financial accountability
  • Develop pricing and margin analytics to improve profitability
  • Provide data-driven insights that support operational decision-making
  • Monitor inventory performance, working capital, and cash flow

Financial Reporting & Systems

  • Improve the company's reporting structure, KPIs, and financial visibility
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly financial reporting and variance analysis
  • Continue developing NetSuite reporting and financial analytics capabilities
  • Strengthen financial processes and controls as the company scales

Strategic & Growth Initiatives

  • Support the President on growth initiatives and acquisition analysis
  • Assist with financial modeling, due diligence support, and integration planning for acquisitions
  • Help evaluate capital investments and strategic opportunities

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Work closely with the accounting team to ensure strong financial operations
  • Partner with leadership to ensure financial discipline and accountability across the business
  • Help build scalable financial processes to support continued growth

Requirements

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for a finance leader who combines analytical strength with operational partnership. You are comfortable working both in the details and at the strategic level, and you enjoy helping leaders use financial data to improve performance.

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Have progressive finance experience with increasing responsibility
  • Are strong in financial modeling, analysis, and business partnership
  • Have experience building budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting processes
  • Are comfortable working hands-on in a growing organization
  • Can translate financial data into clear business insights
  • Have strong communication skills and credibility with operational leaders
  • Take initiative and ownership in solving problems and improving systems

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience in value-added distribution, industrial distribution, or manufacturing
  • Exposure to NetSuite or ERP-based financial reporting
  • Experience supporting M&A analysis or integrations
  • CPA or MBA

Why Depatie

  • Opportunity to play a key role in a growing industrial distribution business
  • Direct partnership with the President and executive leadership team
  • Ability to drive real operational and financial impact across the company
  • Backed by Kanbrick, providing strategic support and long-term investment
  • Opportunity to help build scalable financial systems and processes as the business grows

Compensation & Location

  • Base salary + performance bonus tied to company performance
  • Michigan-based role
  • Reports to the President
