Job description

Director Of Accounting

The Director of Accounting will lead an accounting management team, directly supervise two Controllers that oversee a staff of 20 accountants, and partner closely with the SVP of Financial Operations on strategic initiatives, operational improvements, and departmental direction. This is far more than a traditional "close the books" accounting role. The company is looking for someone who can:

  • Lead and develop high-performing accounting teams
  • Drive accountability, operational efficiency, and process improvement
  • Standardize workflows and improve reporting through data and analytics
  • Navigate complex financial conversations with boards and leadership teams
  • Serve as a technical accounting resource across the organization
  • Help scale systems, controls, reporting, and accounting operations
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, IT, training, and business development teams

Additional areas of responsibility include:

  • Oversight of monthly financial reporting and reviews
  • Managing complex multi-entity accounting environments
  • Supporting audits, internal controls, and SSAE-18 / SOC compliance
  • Leading accounting integrations for acquisitions
  • Developing KPIs, dashboards, and departmental metrics
  • Driving technology enhancements and accounting system improvements
  • Coaching and mentoring Controllers and accounting staff

Ideal background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years of accounting leadership experience
  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise
  • Advanced Excel skills including Power Query, macros, pivot tables, and large data analysis
  • Experience leading teams
  • CPA preferred

The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking accounting leader who thrives in high-volume environments, enjoys solving operational challenges, and knows how to elevate both people and processes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step into a strategic leadership role with strong visibility and influence across the organization.
