WEAPONS ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN Are you searching for a truly unique engineering challenge? Weapons Engineering Technicians for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) get to put their skills to the test with high-tech equipment. This position is available full-time or as part of our paid education program.

The primary responsibilities of Weapons Engineering Technicians include: Monitor and evaluate the performance of electronic equipment Operate electronic diagnosis systems, specialized tools and test equipment Perform diagnostic analysis on components and systems to identify faults Repair faulty electronic equipment to restore system function Compile test logs, evaluation reports, equipment maintenance documentation and read and interpret electronic drawings You will find a comprehensive list of the primary duties on the forces.ca website.

This position is similar to the following: Electronics Repair Apprentice Electronics Repair Journeyman Electrical and Electronics Engineer Marine Weapons Engineering Technician Appliance Service and Repair To be eligible to apply to the CAF, you must: Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada; Be at least 18 years old (17 years old with parental consent), except: For the Paid Education programs, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent); For the Primary Reserve, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent) and must be enrolled as a full-time student; Have completed at least Grade 10 or Secondary IV in Québec (some jobs need higher levels of education). Required Education The minimum required education to apply for this occupation is the completion of the provincial requirements for Grade 10 or Secondary 4 in Quebec, including minimum Grade 10 Applied Math (Math 426 or TS 4 in Quebec). It is an asset to have a Physics course at any level.

Foreign education may be accepted. Direct Entry Plan Ideal candidates will already have a diploma or Red Seal for a related civilian trade. If you already have a university or college diploma, the CAF will decide if your academic program matches the criteria for this job and may optimize your progression following basic training.
