Job description

Sterling Engineering is partnering with a growing precision fabrication and contract manufacturing company to hire an Electrical Project Engineer. This role is responsible for supporting the design, assembly, testing, and validation of industrial electrical control systems and electromechanical

Location: Libertyville, IL 60048
Schedule: 1st Shift
Salary: $100,000-$120,000 per year
Hire Type: Direct Hire

Responsibilities
  • Lead the assembly of industrial control panels, ensuring proper component placement, wiring, and overall build quality.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing operations, including equipment setup, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
  • Develop and perform functional, continuity, and validation testing for electrical control systems and panels.
  • Troubleshoot wiring and electrical system issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Partner with engineering, fabrication, and production teams to ensure efficient, repeatable, and compliant electrical builds.
  • Verify electrical assemblies meet customer specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to manufacturing processes and electrical system performance.
  • Create and maintain clear work instructions and manufacturing documentation.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Active UL Manufacturers Technical Representative (MTR) certification, or the ability to successfully obtain certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on electrical experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Experience creating manufacturing work instructions and technical documentation.
  • Proficient with electrical test equipment, including multimeters, and common hand tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience with industrial control panels and electrical assemblies is highly preferred.
