The Assistant Project Manager will work as part of a cross functional team in a wide range of building projects. Reporting to the Director, Data Center Development & Construction, this position is primarily responsible for assisting in project planning, organization, and management of day-to-day operations.

This position is critical to providing project management support needed to sustain and grow AREP's construction projects across the portfolio and can be based out of one of the following locations: McLean, VA (HQ) or Louisville, KY with travel expectations to both.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage project documentation (development agreements, leases, permits, drawings, specifications, change orders, etc.)
  • Assist in project schedule management, including updating and reporting on schedule progress
  • Carry out project meeting management tasks include scheduling, creating agendas, updating minutes, and tracking deliverables identified in meetings
  • Work with accounting team on project budget tasks including setting up job codes, processing invoices, managing expense reports, reviewing draw packages, and tracking job cost reports
  • Facilitate, issue and manage project contracts and agreements.
  • Responsible for having contracts and proposals signed, tracked, and returned to vendors
  • Ensure that scope creep, communications, and quality control are carefully managed through execution of project management change control and communications plans are implemented
  • Review/Revise job budgets as needed
  • Support project team through performing general office duties, data entry, and administrative tasks

  • Ability to anticipate any barriers that may affect asset management.
  • Able to provide high attention to detail and accurate research and reporting.
  • Ability to respond promptly to management and contractors/vendor requests.
  • Regularly review and reinforce current procedures.
  • Able to work collaboratively with co-workers and management through trust and transparency.
  • Ability to roll up the sleeves and get the job done.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing deadlines and generate a detail-oriented work product.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Candidates with Data Center and/or Power/Utilities Coordination are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or 3+ years of construction project management experience.
  • Overall knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Candidates with the following experience/background are strongly encouraged to apply: Data center industry, real estate development, Yardi, Northspyre, Procore, Oracle Primavera Cloud or other equivalent project management tools.
