Join our team as Vice President - Data Acquisition
 
The VP, Data Acquisition is responsible for sourcing, developing, and implementing data acquisition models across the United States, Canada, and Europe, including local, state, provincial, national government, public policy, and private sector initiatives that support CARFAX's products, services, and business priorities. The role also owns the growth and stewardship of CARFAX's existing data partnership portfolio.
 
Success means a healthy and expanding pipeline of public and private data sources, multi-year roadmap clarity tied to CARFAX's global expansion goals, and disciplined economics on every acquisition decision.
 
Core Responsibilities
  • Partnership Development. Identify, qualify, and secure new data opportunities across public and private sectors. Cultivate relationships with government and industry stakeholders that map to CARFAX's product roadmap and geographic expansion.
  • Portfolio Growth and Stewardship. Maintain and grow current data partnerships. Serve as the senior relationship owner for strategic providers and renewal cycles.
  • Data Roadmap and Strategy. Develop and maintain a multi-year data roadmap that aligns with CARFAX's global expansion goals, with documented assumptions, dependencies, and sequencing across regions.
  • Budget Ownership. Manage the data acquisition budget with a focus on product-driven acquisition and clear ROI thresholds. Make tradeoffs explicit and protect margins.
  • External Representation. Represent CARFAX at relevant conferences and with key associations. Serve as a credible senior voice with regulators, agency leaders, and industry partners.
  • Team Leadership. Manage direct reports, consultants, and advocates. Build a team capable of running its own pipeline while you also drive senior-level deals personally.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership. Interface with internal business teams in support of company objectives. Partner with Data Services, Analytics, and Product to validate data quality and ensure usable, production-grade integration.

  • Business Development Strength. Strong business development, sales, and account management track record across both public and private sectors. Comfortable owning a personal pipeline while also leading a team.
  • Public Sector Fluency. Demonstrated ability to manage and negotiate public-sector agreements, including procurement, legal review, and multi-party approvals.
  • Private Sector Experience.  Direct experience working with automotive sector OEMs, auctions and insurance companies.
  • Strategic Thinking and Problem Solving. Thinks and acts strategically against company objectives. Translates ambiguous opportunities into structured plans and clear next steps.
  • Communication and Negotiation. Polished presenter and skilled negotiator. Effective at creating win-win agreements in person and in virtual settings, and at addressing tough questions in real time.
