Job description

Join a Team Where Engineering Excellence Drives Opportunity

At Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI), we bring together expertise and innovation to solve the most complex challenges. Since 1978, weโ€™ve supported mission-driven organizations in designing systems and environments that advance society and improve lives. Today, with more than 900 professionals across 22 offices, we help shape the future of healthcare, science and technology, energy, education, and other vital sectors.

From elevating patient care in Mayo Clinicโ€™s world-class hospitals to enabling discovery in high-containment laboratories for U.S. agencies and driving environmental progress with Microsoftโ€™s renowned Thermal Energy Center, our work enriches the human experience, safeguards the environment, and pushes the boundaries of possibility.

AEI consistently earns national recognition from leading industry publications, including Building Design+Construction, Engineering News-Record, and Consulting-Specifying Engineer, with distinctions such as being named the #1 Laboratory Engineering Firm in the nation and receiving multiple Best of the Best Project awards, underscoring the lasting legacy of our work.

At AEI, youโ€™ll join a collaborative community where your expertise fuels innovation, your ideas drive progress, and your work helps shape a brighter future.

We are hiring for a Commissioning Agent in our Mission Critical Market Space in the following states: Texas, Georgia, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Arizona

As a Commissioning Agent in our Mission Critical Market Space, you will help us empower our clients to achieve energy-efficient building solutions, save global environments, and create a better, greener future for all. You will help us empower our data center clients to trust in the reliability of their mission critical systems to preserve data, protect assets, and save lives.  Youโ€™ll also lead efforts to achieve energy-efficient building solutions and help operators improve their ability to safely and effectively manage the data center.  You will work in a multi-disciplined and cross-trained team of commissioning professionals in a team-oriented atmosphere.  Here at AEI, we value our strong team culture and the mantra that we are better together.  You will multi-task projects in collaboration with others.

Why We Need You:

In this role, you will be responsible for resolving commissioning challenges and completing tasks assigned, including developing and implementing the Level 1 โ€“ 5 commissioning process delivery set forth in Ownerโ€™s Project Requirements (OPR), Basis of Design (BOD), plans and specifications. You will oversee and execute the quality observation and testing in the field.

Expertise of our most successful Commissioning Agent:

  • Minimum 2 years of commissioning experience for data center or mission critical facilities.
  • Technical or Associate Degree from an accredited technical institution or college; or commensurate design or construction experience in mechanical, electrical, and/or controls systems.
  • General understanding of building systems across all design disciplines.  A more detailed understanding of power distribution, cooling systems, and controls desired.
  • Ability to learn to interpret guidelines, standards, and best practices related to data center construction.
  • Ability to become proficient with software programs for business as well as could-based commissioning and construction:
    • Microsoft Word, Excel
    • CxAlloy
    • Autodesk BIM360, ACCBuild, and similar.
  • Ability to travel as required by the project.  We do not promote long-term deployments to site.
  • Willingness to become OSHA certified.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and state required vehicle insurance.

Effective skills to help you flourish:

  • Commissioning certification with a nationally recognized professional body.
  • Direct positive communication with Owners, Contractors, and Engineers.  We value a problem-solving productive mentality in a non-adversarial environment.
  • Ability to apply safety training to specific construction situations and avoid unsafe work environments and promote quality installation.
  • Ability to understand and safely use test and measurement equipment and common tools.
  • Effective working individually and within team environments.

When you work here, you can expect:

  • A flexible, collaborative environment where your well-being mattersโ€”because your best work happens when youโ€™re supported.
  • Real opportunities to growโ€”through mentorship, professional development programs, and exposure to high-impact projects across disciplines.
  • To collaborate with inspiring teammates who challenge the status quo, foster innovation, and pave the way for future leaders.
  • A benefits package that offers health, dental, vision, and retirement, a performance-based year-end bonus, and thoughtful perks tailored to your needsโ€”whether that's a flexible work environment, wellness resources, or community-focused initiatives, weโ€™ll continue to invest in.

If this dynamic environment and the chance to contribute to transformative projects resonate with your ambitions, we would love to connect with you. Join us and make an impact!
