Director, Data Governance & Data Quality

Job description

Director, Data Governance & Data Quality

Data & Analytics · Client Engagement

Location: On-site 4 days/week, Chandler, AZ

Compensation: $180,000 to $200,000 base plus 10% bonus

The Opportunity

You'll build the client's data governance operating model from the ground up, with direct authority over certification standards, executive escalation paths, and how data trust actually gets enforced across a complex, multi-system environment. This is a builder's mandate, not a maintenance seat.

What You'll Do

  • Build and run the Data Trust Council, the executive cadence with real decision rights for critical data domains

  • Own the critical metric registry and certification framework end to end, so certified data has a clear owner, lineage, and change history

  • Design the data quality incident process, including root-cause classification and remediation routing

  • Create and enforce Data Impact Reviews that govern how source-system and workflow changes touch certified data and downstream reporting

Requirements

What We Need

  • 7+ years in data governance, data quality, or data strategy leadership, with a proven track record building business-owned governance in a messy, multi-system environment where sources, definitions, and dashboards didn't initially agree

  • Strong technical fluency with Snowflake, dbt, and modern BI tools (Tableau or comparable)

  • Demonstrated experience designing certification standards, owner/steward models, and source-change control that changed actual operating behavior, not just documentation

Strong advantage: executive-level diplomacy translating technical lineage and data-quality constraints into plain-language business implications for non-technical leaders.

Benefits

Schedule & Comp

$180,000 to $200,000 base plus 10% bonus. Full time On-site 4 days/week, Chandler, AZ
