Job Description

The Senior Data Modeler designs, implements, and documents more complex data architecture and data modeling solutions, which include the use of relational, dimensional, and NoSQL databases. These solutions support enterprise data management, business intelligence, machine learning, data science, and other business interests.

What You'll Do

  • Data Modeling: Creates fully attributed and documented conceptual, logical and physical models using ER and Dimensional modeling techniques.

  • Requirement Analysis: Analyzes data to verify business requirements and design the data models.

  • Data Architecture: Participates in project specific architectural working groups to provide expertise in modeling. Provides inputs on the data management of data assets in all data stores and governs the storage of data in different layers of the data stores. Provides architectural inputs on the data consumption layers, access and security requirements. Documents data flows from its origination and acquisition points. Oversee and govern the expansion of existing data architecture.

  • Standard Query Language: Generates first cut physical model DDL and SQL for views for implementation by the DBA.

  • Documentation: Creates, validates, and updates the data dictionary by coordinating with data governance team and business users.

  • Standards & Process: Facilitates model review sessions. Creates, follows, and revises the data modeling standards and guidelines for different data stores.

  • Data Modeling on Snowflake platform: Play a key role in designing the Silver and Gold analytical layers in Snowflake to build trusted analytical platform serving various business capabilities for different departments within the payer industry.

  • Leading and mentoring - Provide the expert knowledge to other data modelers, reviews work of other modelers to verify it meets enterprise standards and guidelines. Provides inputs on process improvements and maturing the data modeling practice.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required)

  • 5+ years of experience in related field.

  • In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in related field.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience leading other data modelers in a successful full life-cycle enterprise data warehousing effort

  • Healthcare domain experience preferred especially EHR/Clinical domain

  • Exposure working on Snowflake platform.

  • Experience and exposure with HL7 FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) profiles and resources in order to map enterprise data or source data to appropriate FHIR resources.

  • Working experience on ERStudio or similar data modeling tool

  • Extensive experience of ER and Dimensional modeling concepts

Salary Range
