Aspen Careers is partnering with a respected, mid-sized Ohio law firm to identify a Controller who will serve as a key member of the firm's leadership team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to oversee the firm's financial operations, provide strategic financial guidance, and help drive operational excellence within a highly regarded legal organization.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred)
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance leadership experience, preferably within a law firm or other professional services environment
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, general ledger management, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
  • Experience overseeing month-end and year-end close processes
  • Knowledge of law firm accounting, including trust accounting and partner compensation, is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to improve accounting processes, implement efficiencies, and strengthen internal controls
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information to firm leadership
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion when handling confidential financial information
  • Collaborative leadership style with experience managing and developing accounting staff
