This position is located in Sedro-Woolley, Washington State.

Department Summary:

The Director of Contracts is responsible for establishing, leading, and overseeing the company’s contracts function during a period of significant organizational growth within the aerospace and defense sector. Serving as the principal authority on contractual matters, the Director provides strategic leadership across U.S. Government and commercial contracting activities and reports to the Vice President of Contracts, Subcontracts, and Government Compliance.

The role encompasses comprehensive oversight of proposal review, contract formation, negotiation, administration, and closeout, ensuring disciplined and compliant execution throughout the contract lifecycle. The Director works closely with executive leadership, Business Development, Capture, Program Management, and other functional teams to negotiate complex agreements, shape contracting approaches, manage contractual risk, and ensure adherence to applicable regulatory requirements, including FAR and DFARS.

In addition to leading day‑to‑day contract management activities, the Director is responsible for developing contracting policy, strengthening compliance frameworks, and supporting growth initiatives across both existing and emerging markets. This includes engagement in classified and secure program activities, as well as the opportunity to build and develop a high‑performing contracts organization that supports long‑term business success. The position requires significant interaction with executive leadership and plays a critical role in influencing business strategy and ensuring the company’s contractual posture enables continued expansion.

  • Lead all aspects of Government and commercial contract management across the organization
  • Serve as the primary contractual advisor to executive leadership, guiding key business decisions and strategies
  • Oversee proposal review, contract structuring, negotiation, modifications, administration, and close-out activities
  • Partner with Business Development and Capture teams to support competitive pursuits, develop pricing and contracting strategies, and ensure proposal compliance
  • Interpret and apply FAR, DFARS, and other federal acquisition regulations to protect company interests and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Lead the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, and business systems related to contracts oversight
  • Identify contractual risks and develop mitigation strategies to support successful program execution
  • Establish and cultivate strong relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, subcontractors, and Government agencies
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing contracts organization aligned with company growth objectives
  • Support audits, reviews, and compliance activities involving DCMA, DCAA, and other Government oversight entities
  • Provide leadership in support of classified programs and secure contract activities. Fields daily questions and concerns from Program Management, Operations and Executive Management. Understands our business systems, procedures and processes and how they are integrated

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, Engineering, or a related field required

Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible Government contracts experience within aerospace, defense, or government contracting industries

Demonstrated expertise in FAR, DFARS, and other federal acquisition regulations

Proven success negotiating complex Government and commercial agreements

Strong experience supporting executive leadership and influencing strategic decisions

Experience collaborating with Business Development and Capture teams on competitive pursuits

Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills

Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skill

Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance is required
  • Active Secret or Top-Secret clearance is preferred
  • Experience supporting classified programs is highly desirable

  • Master’s degree or Juris Doctor
  • NCMA CPCM or CFCM certification
  • Experience supporting DoD aerospace manufacturing programs

Wage range for this role is between$150K – 220K , plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities
