Digital Director, KMGH Denver-7

Are you ready to lead digital innovation at one of Denver's most trusted news sources? KMGH, the E.W. Scripps Company ABC affiliate in Denver, Colorado, is seeking a dynamic Digital Director to spearhead our content strategy across all platforms. This is your opportunity to shape how our community stays informed in the digital age while leading a talented team of Digital Content Producers and Managers. We're looking for a digital journalism expert with extensive streaming content experience who can drive both audience engagement and revenue growth.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Execute local digital content in alignment with station content strategy to achieve business goals.

  • Partner with local sales management to achieve revenue targets - Capitalize on alternate revenue streams, including passive revenue.

  • Responsible for the overall management and functionality of the station website, and all other assigned digital platforms, such as mobile, tablet and social and third-party/syndicated.

  • Collaborate with corporate content team on implementation, support and training for current and new products and platforms.

  • Work with the local News Director to create and manage internal systems and processes to keep all digital platforms current, and competitive with local news and information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • Optimize pages and sections of the website for search (SEO).

  • Track monthly analytics, including standard web, advertiser, video, mobile and social.

  • Work closely with all departments (including News, Advertising, Marketing, Sales) in a collaborative manner to support their digital needs.

  • Conceptualize and create new content areas on the website and manage others engaged in similar assignments.

  • Work with site partners and advertisers to create and maintain web content, including the incorporation, insertion and maintenance of native content or advertiser creative and video commercials into the sites or apps.

  • May perform some design of advertiser creative.

  • Troubleshoot any and all problems with the website.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • College degree in related field or equivalent experience required

  • A minimum of 3 years of comprehensive digital media experience required

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in digital media, journalism, broadcast, media sales or a closely related field preferred

  • 2 years of supervisory experience preferred

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced newsroom environment

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with editorial, sales and marketing leaders

  • Strong sense of initiative and focus on continuous learning

  • Strong understanding of analytics for digital audience, engagement and revenue

  • Ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization

  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial abilities, with start-up business/project skills strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated change management skills

  • Persuasive, encouraging and motivating

  • Working knowledge of online content management systems (CMSs) and HTML

  • Working knowledge of additional web design/development applications such as JavaScript, Adobe Photoshop, and FTP is strongly preferred

  • Knowledge of social media and SEO concepts, and a rich understanding of all things digital including video, mobile and tablet applications strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated success in growing social media audiences and communities (including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter and YouTube) is strongly preferred

COMPENSATION RANGE:

Annual Salary: $115,000.00 - $130,000.00


Pursuant to state and local salary transparency laws, the salary range posted is specific to candidates who will perform this work in Colorado.
