Position Overview:

The Assistant Director, Content Packaging gets the opportunity to work on some of PBS's acclaimed General Audience and Children's Programming. This position coordinates with producers to ensure media is delivered, meets PBS technical standards and metadata is accurate. This position traffics media and manages changes to media including edit supervision. Those in this position know that daily they contribute to providing the American public with the quality content PBS is known for.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate with producers, Programming, Marketing and Standards & Practices to track media deliverables for assigned series/programs

  • Perform quality control checks of media and program metadata

  • Traffic /assemble General Audience and Children's programs

  • Manage change requests, including edit supervision and record creation.

  • Respond to producer inquiries regarding PBS delivery specs prior to submission of media

  • Review QC results and determine the appropriate disposition

  • Support Associate Director and team communication from external groups

  • Support PBS Media Operations Center in responding to questions from producers regarding services provided

Requirements for success:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field, or equivalent work experience

  • At least 5 years' experience in broadcast traffic and operations, production or post-production

  • Experience coordinating supervised and non-supervised edit sessions

  • Experience with broadcast traffic software

  • Knowledge of PBS content helpful

  • Attention to detail

  • Strong proofreading/editing skills

  • Organizational skills

  • Strong writing and communications skills

  • Ability to juggle several projects and work within tight deadlines.

  • Diplomacy skills

  • Issue resolution

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
