Opened in April, CarMax Park is the new home of Richmond Flying Squirrels baseball and Richmond's newest multi-use entertainment venue - more than just a ballpark, it features multiple indoor event spaces designed for year-round events and experiences. Anchored by the stunning Atlantic Union Bank Lounge ('Venue') - a 6,000-square-foot climate-controlled venue with panoramic views. CarMax Park transforms beyond game days into a premium setting for concerts and other live experiences, corporate events, weddings, fundraisers, and more. With flexibility for sports, entertainment, and upscale gatherings, CarMax Park is the premier venue for unforgettable experiences in Central Virginia.
Position Summary:
804LIVE is the events and entertainment provider of CarMax Park. The Booking Director ('Director') for 804LIVE will play a crucial role in developing and implementing a live entertainment booking strategy for the Venue and the Park overall. The Director will be responsible for programming a robust events calendar by partnering with agents, managers, promoters and other partners to attract a diverse line-up of local, regional and national touring artists. The Director will effectively utilize a deep roster of industry relationships to enhance CarMax Park's entertainment offerings and achieve attendance and financial objectives.
Responsibilities:
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with promoters, agents, booking agencies and other touring stakeholders.
  • Prepare and submit offers and lead deal negotiations ensuring favorable financial terms, an elevated Artist experience and overall strategic alignment.
  • Lead the negotiation process from hold to offer to execution, including oversight of financial terms, contractual obligations and expenses.
  • Prepare and maintain updated event proformas, forecasts and financial projections.
  • Manage venue availability and booking calendar, including process for assigning 'pencils', 'holds', and confirmations.
  • Negotiate artist rider, backline, transportation, hospitality and other artist requests, including corresponding budgets.
  • Collaborate with production teams on 'hand-off' of the relationship to ensure seamless event execution and operational success.
  • Manage relations with Artist and Artist Representative through and beyond event day, with special attention to problem solving and issue resolution.
  • Participate in the show settlement process to ensure the accurate reconciliation of all agreed upon terms.
  • Analyze market trends, regional and national touring scenarios, and competitive venues to best position CarMax Park and its venues.
  • Represent CarMax Park and 804Live at industry events, conferences, etc.
  • Deliver and uphold high standards of guest service for clients, partners, and event attendees.

Experience:
  • 4 to 6 years of experience with booking and programming responsibilities in a concert venue such as a club, theater, arena or amphitheater. Experience in a non-traditional entertainment venue, such as a baseball stadium, is preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university preferred.
  • Understanding of the concert and live entertainment landscape, including outreach strategy and deal modeling.
  • Confidence to manage and build equity in high-profile partner relationships.
  • Self-directed with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, determining focus and prioritization, while remaining calm under pressure.
  • Ability to effectively and confidently communicate both verbally and written, with experience using Microsoft 365 suite of products preferred.
  • Proactive leader with the ability to successfully manage multiple event timelines simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrates a proactive, solution-oriented approach to problem solving.
  • Self-directed with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with the experience to determine focus and prioritization.
  • Willingness and availability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required in a live entertainment setting.
  • Passionate about music and live entertainment.
