Job description

Shady Side Academy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Varsity Girls Softball Coach who will support the Academyโ€™s mission to challenge students to think expansively, act ethically, and lead responsibly. The successful candidate will embody and promote the schoolโ€™s guiding principles of honesty, kindness, responsibility, respect, and safety, fostering a positive and growth-oriented environment for student-athletes.

Position Overview

The Varsity Girls Softball Coach is responsible for the overall leadership, development, and management of the girlsโ€™ varsity basketball program. This includes coaching, program planning, and supporting the academic, personal, and athletic growth of student-athletes. The coach will work collaboratively with the Athletic Director and other members of the athletics department to ensure alignment with school goals and policies.

Qualifications

  • Previous coaching experience at the high school, middle school, collegiate, or club level preferred
  • Strong knowledge of softball fundamentals, strategy, and player development
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and motivate student-athletes
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and oversee all aspects of the varsity girlโ€™s softball program
  • Develop and implement effective training, conditioning, and skill development programs
  • Prepare student-athletes for practices and competitive events
  • Promote high standards of conduct, accountability, and team culture
  • Ensure compliance with all school, league, and governing body regulations (including WPIAL and PIAA)
  • Collaborate with the Athletic Director, coaches, faculty, and staff to support departmental goals
  • Monitor and support the academic progress and personal development of student-athletes
  • Assist in program evaluation, development, and long-term planning
  • Foster positive relationships with students, families, and the school community
