Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary

The Director Cloud Platform role is a great opportunity for anyone passionate about leadership, coaching, mentoring, technology and innovation looking to join a highly collaborative, team oriented organization. You will be responsible for building strong relationships with HCA ITG leaders, project managers, architects, and other technical teams for delivering products and services to meet their needs while adhering to industry best practices and HCA Policies and Guidelines.

As a member of the HCA ITG Cloud Leadership Team, the Director Cloud Platform reports to the AVP of Cloud Infrastructure and is charged to understand the goals/objectives of the enterprise, and to provide clear leadership and coaching to ensure that all members of the team understand their roles/responsibilities and are positioned for success.

You will work closely with various areas of the enterprise to define and empower the delivery of cloud services and solutions, focusing on infrastructure as code (IAC) across a multi-tiered, multi cloud strategy. These responsibilities require the candidate to have a deep understanding of:

• Infrastructure as Code

• Cloud Platform Engineering

• Disaster Recovery / High Availability

• Google Cloud

• Microsoft Azure

You will interact daily with the following departments:

• Executive Leadership

• Security Architecture

• Enterprise Architecture

• Application Product teams

• Information Privacy and Protection

• Vendors 

Major Responsibilities:

• Works with Executive Leadership to develop short- and long-range product and service strategies and plans. Oversees the execution of operating plans for specified area of responsibility.

• Develops a rigorous technology architecture, leveraging cloud services and automation to enable business strategies and ensure public cloud solutions are optimized for cost and functionality.

• Develops and drives the cloud computing strategy along with the introduction of new emerging technologies and public cloud services, cloud adoption plans, cloud application design, and cloud management and monitoring strategies

• Collaborates and leads target state Cloud Architecture, partnering with other areas, such as Enterprise Architecture and Development teams. Works with development teams and other stakeholders to drive and enable the migration and refactoring of on-premises applications to cloud native design and deployment methodologies.

• Ensures all technical leaders have architected resilient and robust systems. May oversee technology assessments, technology strategy reviews, and provide internal consulting to ensure all areas are practicing sound architecture hygiene.

• Translates complex ideas, technology, and programs into language executive leadership can relate to and performs as a key influencer on technical decisions that affect the business on a long-term basis.

• Leads the Development of metrics and scorecards to influence the technology teams on industry best practices for cloud development.

• Directs Architecture in defining technology strategy and roadmaps.

• Performs as an idea generator, working with others as a thought leader and subject- matter expert to help brainstorm new processes and solutions.

• Reviews the competitive marketplace and makes adjustments to operational activities based

Planning and Organization

• Understand and be able to communicate daily, weekly and monthly personal and Team Goals from Executive Leadership

• Plan daily, weekly, and monthly individual and teamwork activities in alignment with established/defined Team Goals/Priorities.

• Execute against approved daily, weekly and monthly plans and keep leadership informed of work status/progress.

• Independently manage assigned tasks and project components to complete within established timelines.

• Identify and communicate potential business impacts when planning changes to production systems.

Education & Experience:

•  Master's degree preferred

•  Bachelor's degree required

10 years of relevant experience required

Licenses, Certifications, & Training:

•  Cloud Certification preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Behaviors:

• Cloud Certification Required – AWS, GCP, or Azure

• Experience with Terraform

• Experience using AI in daily job

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a team lead or leadership role required

• Experience with multiple public cloud platforms

• Ability to lead and motivate highly skilled engineers

• Strong Communication Skills

• Strong experience in Core background spanning at least two IT disciplines, including technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or operations.

• Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments

• Knowledge of all components of technical architecture

• Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes preferred
