Overview
This is a hybrid role. 2 days remote (Monday, Friday) and 3 days onsite (Tuesday-Thursday)
The Director, Cloud Infrastructure is accountable for the strategy, reliability, and continuous improvement of the company's enterprise technology services, including infrastructure engineering, cloud platforms, and operational governance.
This role leads multiple technical and service delivery teams and serves as the primary owner of core IT operations that enable business continuity and teammate productivity across all locations. The Director balances long-term modernization initiatives with day-to-day operational excellence, ensuring systems are secure, resilient, scalable, and aligned with business growth.
The position partners closely with Security, Applications, Finance, and Audit to manage risk, maintain regulatory compliance, and deliver a stable and high-quality technology experience for the organization.

Responsibilities
Infrastructure Strategy & Architecture
  • Define and execute the multi-year roadmap for infrastructure and operations services
  • Lead hybrid cloud strategy across Azure, AWS, and Microsoft 365
  • Establish standards for availability, scalability, resiliency, automation, and cost optimization
  • Drive lifecycle planning for compute, storage, networking, identity, and endpoint platforms
  • Evaluate new technologies and vendors to modernize and simplify the environment
  • Align infrastructure investments to business priorities and growth plans

Infrastructure & Platform Operations
  • Own availability, performance, and security of:
    • Data centers and hosted environments
    • Cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, Microsoft 365)
    • Core enterprise systems and identity services
    • Backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity platforms
    • Endpoint/device management platforms
  • Ensure SLAs and operational targets are consistently achieved
  • Lead incident, change, and problem management practices
  • Oversee monitoring, alerting, and operational health reporting
  • Provide senior-level technical escalation and decision-making

Reliability Engineering & Service Excellence
  • Promote reliability-focused practices, including monitoring, observability, automation, and root cause analysis
  • Oversee Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) functions to improve system stability and performance
  • Reduce recurring incidents and operational risk through proactive improvements
  • Champion operational maturity and continuous service improvement

Risk, Security & Compliance
  • Partner with Information Security and Audit to maintain effective IT governance and controls
  • Support SOX and PCI compliance across infrastructure and operational systems
  • Ensure appropriate access management, logging, backup, and recovery standards
  • Participate in audits, assessments, and remediation efforts
  • Maintain documentation and processes to support regulatory requirements

Leadership & Organizational Development
  • Lead managers and technical teams across infrastructure engineering, support services, and telecommunications
  • Set priorities, capacity plans, and performance expectations
  • Coach and develop leaders and senior engineers
  • Foster a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement

Financial & Vendor Management
  • Own infrastructure and operations budgets and forecasting
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and renewals
  • Negotiate hardware, cloud, telecom, and services agreements
  • Balance cost optimization with performance and reliability needs

Stakeholder Partnership
  • Serve as the primary technology operations leader for business stakeholders
  • Translate business requirements into scalable and reliable solutions
  • Communicate risks, performance, and strategy to senior leadership
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Security, Applications, Finance, and Workplace teams

Scope of Ownership
  • Hybrid cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Microsoft 365)
  • On-prem data centers and core infrastructure
  • Backup and disaster recovery
  • Endpoint and device management
  • ITSM platforms and operational tooling
  • Compliance and operational controls (SOX/PCI)
  • Multiple teams including managers, engineers, and support staff

Qualifications
Required
  • 10+ years progressive IT infrastructure or operations experience
  • 5+ years people leadership experience
  • Experience leading both engineering and support functions
  • Strong knowledge of both cloud platforms and enterprise infrastructure
  • Experience managing budgets, vendors, and contracts
  • Experience supporting SOX/PCI or similar compliance frameworks
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Preferred
  • Microsoft cloud technologies (Azure, Intune, Microsoft 365)
  • AWS cloud platform experience
  • Experience leading or overseeing Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or reliability practices
  • ITIL or service management frameworks
  • Telecommunications/VoIP/UCaaS experience
  • Multi-site or distributed workforce support experience
