Job description

Position Title: Director, Cloud Platforms & DevSecOps (M4)

Role
As Director, Cloud Platforms & DevSecOps, you will define and deliver the enterprise cloud platform and DevSecOps strategy. You will lead teams to build secure, scalable platform capabilities that accelerate delivery, improve reliability, and embed security across the software development lifecycle-translating business priorities into an executable roadmap. This is an opportunity for an entrepreneurial leader to help shape the direction of Crown Castle's technology strategy including building a solid digital and data foundation for future growth.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Cloud Platforms Leadership
  • Define and lead the enterprise cloud strategy (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Oversee design, deployment, and optimization of cloud-native and hybrid platforms
  • Ensure high availability, scalability, performance, and cost efficiency
  • Drive cloud governance, architecture standards, and best practices
  • Lead cloud migration and modernization end-to-end and ensure scalable hybrid operations across on-premises and public cloud

DevSecOps Transformation
  • Lead adoption of DevSecOps principles, integrating security into CI/CD pipelines
  • Build and manage automated pipelines for build, test, and deployment
  • Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation
  • Champion shift-left security and compliance automation
  • Collaborate with security teams to embed controls across the SDLC
  • Embed security and compliance into cloud and delivery processes, including continuous security testing, risk management, and practices

Corporate Infrastructure Management
  • Oversee enterprise infrastructure including networks, servers, storage, and endpoints
  • Ensure reliability and performance of corporate IT systems (on-prem and cloud)
  • Manage identity and access management (IAM), endpoint security, and internal IT services
  • Drive modernization of legacy systems and data centers

Operations & Governance
  • Establish SLAs, KPIs, and operational metrics for infrastructure and platform services
  • Lead incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and security frameworks
  • Manage vendor relationships and technology partnerships
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, and Operations to translate priorities into requirements, drive enterprise initiatives, and ensure alignment and delivery
  • Own DevOps tooling, CI/CD platforms, cloud operations, and IAM

Leadership & Strategy
  • Build, mentor, and lead high-performing engineering and operations teams
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align IT initiatives with business goals
  • Manage budgets, forecasting, and cost optimization initiatives
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement across platforms and processes
  • Ability to communicate architectures, delivery status, recommendations, and trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences, including executives

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
Education/Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) required.
  • Master's degree in a relevant technical field and/or MBA preferred.
  • Cloud certifications (especially AWS) highly desirable.

Experience & Skills
  • 10+ years in software, cloud infrastructure, or DevOps, including 5+ years leading cloud platforms, infrastructure engineering, or DevSecOps teams.
  • Strong experience designing, deploying, and operating AWS-based solutions, including cost and performance optimization; experience with hybrid cloud a plus.
  • Proven delivery of end-to-end CI/CD pipelines with integrated security controls and testing (e.g., SAST/DAST).
  • Track record defining platform strategy and delivering modernization through automation and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Experience operating scalable cloud platforms for mission-critical systems; familiarity with containers (Docker/Kubernetes), serverless patterns, and monitoring/observability (APM).
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across Product, Engineering, Security, Operations, and executive audiences.
  • Ability to align roadmaps to business goals, manage budgets/capacity, and communicate ROI, risk, and trade-offs.
  • Strong problem-solving and delivery discipline; able to execute long-term objectives in fast-changing environments.

WHERE YOU WILL WORK
  • This role falls into our hybrid work model, which is 1-day work from home (typically Friday but may vary depending on the position) and 4-days in the office to optimize collaboration, relationship building and key stakeholder engagement, and may require some travel as needed.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
  • Reports to: SVP, CIO
  • Direct reports: 5-6 Senior managers and managers (e.g., Senior Managers of Cloud Platform Engineering, DevOps, and Security Engineering) and their teams.

Compensation
The salary range offered for this position is $189440- $260480 annually. A candidate's offer is determined by various factors including but not limited to, depth of experience, role-related knowledge and skills, relevant education or training, internal alignment, and work location. Depending on the position offered, the compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of a discretionary annual cash bonus or commissions, and equity incentives.
