Job description

The Director of Growth & Client Services is the senior leader responsible for growing the agency — through existing client relationships and through new business — and for building the team that delivers on both. This role leads the client services and business development functions and is accountable for the health, growth, and profitability of every account at Moncur.

The right candidate has deep agency experience across branding, digital marketing, advertising, and website development. They know how to scope, pitch, and deliver that work profitably. They've grown accounts, generated leads, won new business, and led teams through all of it. They understand that great client service isn't just responsiveness; it's anticipation, clarity, and follow-through. And they know that growing existing business and winning new business are two sides of the same coin — both require trust, strategic insight, and a team that consistently delivers.

This role is less about closing every deal personally and more about building a system and a team that consistently produces revenue — through expanding the accounts you already have and through new wins.

Responsibilities
  • Grow existing client relationships — partner with clients to expand scope, deepen trust, and create opportunities for account growth
  • Lead new business development — oversee lead generation, build and maintain a healthy pipeline, drive pitches and proposals, and close new accounts
  • Serve as the senior client advocate within the agency, ensuring work is delivered on time, on budget, and at the quality standard clients expect
  • Lead, mentor, and coach the Client Services team — set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and create a real path for professional growth
  • Oversee scoping, estimating, and billing across all active accounts, with a clear eye on profitability and scope discipline
  • Partner with creative, strategy, and technology leads on technical projects — including website development and digital platform work — bringing enough subject matter fluency to lead scoping conversations, anticipate risk, and hold the line on budget and timeline
  • Proactively identify risks to client satisfaction, project delivery, or budget, and mitigate or elevate before they become problems
  • Drive continuous improvement in how the Client Services team scopes, delivers, and reports on work
  • Lead client-facing and internal meetings with clarity and efficiency
  • Contribute to agency-level strategic planning and operations
Requirements
  • 8+ years of account management, business development, and team leadership experience in an agency environment
  • Demonstrated track record of growing existing accounts through trusted client partnerships and strategic account expansion
  • Demonstrated track record of winning new business — lead generation, pipeline development, pitching, and closing — in a B2B context
  • Experience scoping, estimating, and leading technical projects — particularly websites and digital platforms — with enough subject matter knowledge to keep teams and budgets on track
  • AI fluency in practice, not theory. You actively use AI tools in your daily work — research, writing, analysis, proposal development, client insight — and you can coach a team to do the same. You understand what today's tools can and can’t do, and you’re paying attention to where they’re headed.
  • Genuine commitment to team development — you like coaching, you give real feedback, and you take pride in watching people on your team grow
  • Strong strategic thinking paired with operational discipline — able to see the big picture while staying on top of the details
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with clients and with internal teams
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset — you see problems coming and address them early
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field preferred
