Four Hands

Job description

The Imaging Specialist plays a key role in our digital imaging workflow by preparing and organizing the assets that move from concept to print. This role is hands-on and detail-driven, focused on executing consistent file prep, prepress tasks, and digital asset setup that meet Four Hands' technical standards. Working closely with the Imaging Lead, the Imaging Specialist ensures that every file is accurate, print-ready, and aligned to our production requirements. The work is structured, precise, and essential to keeping our imaging pipeline running smoothly and delivering high-quality assets across the business.

In This Role

  • Operate high-resolution scanning and capture equipment using established setups and standard work for known piece types
  • Verify each capture for resolution, focus, even illumination, geometric accuracy, and correct inclusion of color and scale references; recapture when a file does not meet standard
  • Identify pieces that fall outside defined capture setups and escalate to the Imaging Lead before proceeding
  • Execute production color correction and tonal adjustment against approved references and documented standards
  • Perform cleanup and defect removal on predictable conditions - dust, artifacts, edge and corner correction - without altering the character of the original
  • Build production and derivative files including sizing and scale variations, templating, bleed, resolution handling, color profile assignment, and correct file structure for print
  • Verify files against printer and RIP specific technical requirements prior to submitting for review
  • Run proofs, record results, and route color-critical evaluations to the Imaging Lead for review and approval
  • Conduct QC checks for resolution, artifacts, surface-level defects, and color accuracy, escalating non-standard conditions rather than resolving them ad hoc
  • Document adjustments and imaging decisions to preserve traceability and version integrity
  • Maintain file naming conventions, version control, tagging, metadata, and structured organization across imaging libraries
  • Accurately record work in project tracking tools and communicate queue status to the Imaging Lead
  • Follow established workflows and standard work instructions rigorously, surfacing improvement opportunities to the Imaging Lead
  • Prioritize and execute high-volume assignments with speed, accuracy, and consistency
  • Deepen capture, profiling, and color matching capability through structured development directed by the Imaging Lead
  • Adhere to safe material-handling and studio-safety protocols
  • Other duties as assigned, in accordance with training and qualifications
  • Uphold the Core Values and be a valuable member of the Four Hands Team
    • Be open and honest
    • Reach for excellence
    • Act with responsibility
    • Value the whole person
    • Enjoy the journey

The Ideal Person

  • 3+ years of professional experience in digital imaging, prepress, fine art reproduction, or a comparable production imaging environment
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, including color correction, masking, retouching, and resolution handling
  • Working knowledge of color management fundamentals, including ICC profiles, RGB/CMYK conversion, soft proofing, and display calibration
  • Experience preparing production-ready files for print, including resolution, bleed, scaling, and file structure requirements
  • Ability to handle original artwork with care and follow documented handling protocols
  • High attention to detail and consistency within repetitive, high-volume workflows
  • Strong organizational discipline in file naming, version control, and digital asset management
  • Ability to work independently within established SOPs and incorporate technical feedback
