The Director of Business Development is responsible for driving strategic revenue growth by identifying new market opportunities, developing high-value client relationships, and creating business development strategies that expand the company's market presence. This leadership role is responsible for generating new business opportunities, building a strong sales pipeline, and guiding the business development process from prospect identification through contract execution.

Business Growth & Strategy
  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans designed to achieve revenue growth and expand market share.
  • Identify, research, and pursue new business opportunities, markets, industries, and strategic partnerships.
  • Establish and maintain a targeted list of key accounts, prospects, and strategic opportunities using internal and external resources.
  • Develop strategies to penetrate new markets and expand relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Monitor market conditions, competitor activity, industry trends, and emerging opportunities to identify potential risks and growth opportunities.
  • Establish measurable business development goals and strategies that support overall company objectives.
Sales & Revenue Generation
  • Drive the complete sales cycle from initial prospecting and lead generation through proposal development, negotiation, and contract execution.
  • Achieve revenue and growth objectives by winning new accounts and expanding strategic client relationships.
  • Utilize cold calling, networking, referrals, industry events, and other lead-generation strategies to create new opportunities.
  • Conduct effective discovery meetings with key decision-makers to understand client needs, qualify opportunities, and position solutions that create value.
  • Develop and deliver compelling proposals, presentations, and business solutions tailored to specific clients and opportunities.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to maximize profitability while achieving mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts and probability assessments for opportunities within the business development pipeline.
Client Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers, clients, prospects, and industry partners.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor by understanding client business objectives and identifying opportunities to provide innovative solutions.
  • Ensure a positive client experience throughout the business development and sales process.
  • Cultivate strategic relationships that create opportunities for long-term partnerships and repeat business.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Partner with internal departments and leadership teams to develop customized solutions that meet client needs and support business objectives.
  • Provide strategic insight and market intelligence to leadership regarding emerging opportunities, customer needs, and competitive activity.
  • Collaborate with operations, design, sales, and other internal teams to ensure successful development and execution of client solutions.
  • Participate in strategic planning, pipeline reviews, sales meetings, company meetings, and training sessions.
  • Represent the company at industry events, networking opportunities, professional associations, and community functions to increase brand awareness and generate new business opportunities.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, strategic thinking, collaboration, and revenue growth.
Pipeline Management & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of business development activities within the company's CRM and sales tracking systems.
  • Ensure pipeline activity meets or exceeds established performance metrics and growth objectives.
  • Provide regular updates, forecasts, and reports regarding sales activity, market opportunities, and revenue projections.
  • Conduct regular pipeline reviews and prioritize opportunities based on strategic value and probability of success.
Technology & Systems Experience
  • Demonstrated experience using Aspire Software or similar business management and CRM platforms to support sales, business development, client relationship management, estimating, proposal development, and pipeline tracking.
  • Working knowledge of Aspire's functionality, including managing prospects and opportunities, maintaining client information, tracking sales activity, monitoring pipelines, and documenting business development efforts.
  • Ability to utilize Aspire to maintain accurate and up-to-date opportunity records, sales forecasts, activity notes, and probability assessments throughout the sales cycle.
  • Experience leveraging Aspire reporting and dashboards to analyze sales performance, monitor key performance indicators, identify trends, and support strategic business decisions.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal teams using Aspire to ensure seamless communication and coordination from initial opportunity through project handoff and execution.
  • Understanding of the importance of accurate data entry and system maintenance to support forecasting, revenue planning, operational efficiency, and client relationship management.
  • Comfortable learning and utilizing technology platforms in a highly digitized business environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Demonstrated success in business development, strategic sales, account acquisition, or revenue generation.
  • Proven ability to identify opportunities, build relationships with key decision-makers, and successfully close complex sales.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Aspire Software is preferred, including its CRM, opportunity management, sales pipeline, reporting, and business development functionality.
  • Experience using CRM platforms and sales tracking tools to manage prospect activity, maintain accurate pipeline data, forecast revenue, and measure business development performance.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to develop and execute growth initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to positively respond to rejection, overcome objections, and maintain persistence in a competitive sales environment.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and opportunities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and other digital business tools.
  • Comfortable working in a highly digitized and technology-driven environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company insurance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field.
  • Experience leading strategic business development initiatives or high-level sales efforts.
  • Previous experience utilizing Aspire Software within the landscaping, facilities services, construction, or related service industry is highly preferred.
  • Experience using Aspire to manage sales opportunities, client relationships, estimating workflows, proposals, and business development reporting.
  • Established professional network within relevant commercial industries.
  • Experience in commercial landscaping, interior landscaping, horticulture, design, facilities services, or related industries.
  • Horticulture background and a passion for plants, biophilic design, and creating environments that enhance commercial spaces.
  • Experience selling consultative, customized, or service-based solutions to commercial clients.
