Varsity Baseball Head Coach
Position Overview
Dearborn Advanced Technology Academy (ATA) is seeking an experienced, dedicated, and
student-focused Varsity Baseball Head Coach to lead and develop our high school baseball
program. The Head Coach will oversee all aspects of the Varsity and Junior Varsity Baseball
Programs, supervise assistant coaches, and foster a culture centered on academic
achievement, athletic excellence, leadership, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
The successful candidate will be responsible for building a competitive baseball program while
developing student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom. The Head Coach
will work closely with school administration, athletic department staff, families, and community
stakeholders to ensure the continued growth and success of the baseball program.
Qualifications
? Previous baseball coaching experience at the high school level or higher required.
? Knowledge of Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) rules and regulations.
? Proven ability to teach baseball fundamentals, strategy, sportsmanship, leadership, and
discipline.
? Experience working with students in an educational setting.
? Current coaching certifications required by MHSAA and ATA, or ability to obtain prior to
employment.
? CPR, First Aid, and concussion training certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
? Strong understanding of baseball fundamentals, offensive and defensive systems,
pitching development, player development, and conditioning methods.
? Knowledge of game management, lineup construction, pitching rotations, and situational
baseball strategies.
? Excellent organizational, leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
? Ability to motivate student-athletes and foster a positive, disciplined, and competitive
team culture.
? Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, parents, and community
stakeholders.






























? Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and general computer applications.
? Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
? Commitment to ATA's mission of academic and athletic excellence.
Responsibilities
The Varsity Baseball Head Coach will:
? Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of the Varsity and Junior Varsity Baseball
Programs.
? Develop and implement practice plans, game strategies, conditioning programs, skill
development sessions, and off-season training opportunities.
? Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches while ensuring alignment with the
philosophy and goals of the baseball program.
? Provide leadership and support to Junior Varsity coaches to establish continuity and
long-term player development throughout the program.
? Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, accountability, leadership, and academic success
among student-athletes.
? Ensure all student-athletes maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA and meet ATA eligibility
standards.
? Coordinate and oversee mandatory study tables for student-athletes after school and/or
following practices.
? Implement and monitor mandatory nutritional plans to support student-athlete health,
wellness, and performance.
? Communicate regularly with the Athletic Director, School Operations Manager, Principal,
and parents regarding team operations and student-athlete development.
? Maintain accurate attendance, eligibility, academic, and performance records.
? Coordinate team scheduling, transportation requests, equipment inventory, uniform
distribution, and program needs.
? Organize and oversee off-season workouts, camps, clinics, and player development
opportunities.
? Develop fundraising and community engagement initiatives that support the growth of
the baseball program.
? Represent ATA Athletics professionally at all school, athletic, and community events.
? Attend athletic department meetings, school functions, and professional development
opportunities.
? Ensure compliance with all ATA, conference, district, and MHSAA rules and regulations.
Work Schedule & Availability
? Monday through Friday, approximately 3:30 PM 8:00 PM during the baseball season.
? Must be available after school dismissal for practices, games, study tables, and team
activities.




































? Occasional evenings and weekends required for games, tournaments, camps,
fundraising activities, and team events.
? Off-season responsibilities include player development, strength and conditioning
oversight, program planning, recruitment, fundraising, and community engagement.
