Job description

We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee core accounting operations and provide strong financial leadership for the organization in Holland, Ohio. This role is well suited for an individual who can guide a small team, maintain accurate general ledger activity, and deliver reliable financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring a hands-on approach to month-end close while also supporting key banking and insurance relationships.
Responsibilities:
• Direct day-to-day accounting activities and provide leadership to a team that includes both domestic and international staff members.
• Maintain full ownership of the general ledger, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and accounts remain properly reconciled.
• Lead the month-end close process and drive timely completion of journal entries, reconciliations, and related reporting tasks.
• Prepare and review financial statements and management reports to support informed business decisions.
• Supervise accounting workflows, assign priorities, and coach team members to promote accuracy and accountability.
• Build working knowledge of the company’s customized NetSuite environment and oversee its effective use within accounting operations.
• Manage relationships with banking partners and insurance providers, serving as a key financial point of contact.
• Monitor accounting controls and identify opportunities to improve consistency, compliance, and reporting quality.• 3+ years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or controllership functions.
• Strong expertise in general ledger management, month-end close, and financial reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and coordinate the work of an accounting team.
• High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and follow-through.
• Experience working with ERP systems; familiarity with NetSuite is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders as well as external banking and insurance contacts.
• CPA or progress toward an accounting credential is a plus.
