We are looking for an experienced Controller to guide the financial and accounting function for a growing manufacturing organization in St. Paul, Minnesota. This position is suited for a hands-on leader who can combine strong technical accounting knowledge with practical operational support across multiple entities. The Controller will help strengthen reporting, improve financial processes, and provide insight that supports sound business decisions. Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities:
• Direct the daily execution of core accounting activities, including ledger management, payables, receivables, payroll, fixed assets, and cost-related transactions.
• Oversee financial operations across multiple business entities, maintaining consistent reporting practices and reliable results.
• Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycle and deliver accurate financial statements and internal management reports on schedule.
• Establish and refine accounting policies, workflows, and internal controls to support growth and improve financial discipline.
• Develop the accounting function by coaching team members, clarifying ownership of responsibilities, and supporting hiring when needed.
• Collaborate with executive leadership and operational teams on budgeting, forecasting, cash planning, and broader business strategy.
• Manage and optimize Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to support accounting accuracy, reporting visibility, and process efficiency.
• Supervise manufacturing finance activities such as inventory valuation, standard costing, and variance review.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, banking partners, and outside accounting firms to support compliance and reporting obligations.
• Demonstrated experience leading accounting and finance operations in a controller or similar leadership role.
• Strong command of month-end close, journal entries, general ledger oversight, and financial statement preparation.
• Background supporting multi-entity accounting environments with a high degree of accuracy and consistency.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is required.
• Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, budgeting, and cash flow management.
• Experience in manufacturing accounting, including inventory accounting and cost accounting.
• Ability to build effective processes, strengthen internal controls, and improve reporting quality.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to partner across finance, operations, and executive teams.
