  • Job Description

    The Director of Maintenance is responsible for the operation and management of the 135 Maintenance Department and its personnel.They lead the development, communication, and implementation of efficient operational procedures, policies, and effective growth strategies for the department. We will consider this role as hybrid however must be local to Dallas.

    ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES INCLUDE:

    • Coordinates and manages maintenance operational issues; AOGs (aircraft on ground), mechanical interruptions, in-flight emergencies, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance with Summit Flight Instructors.

    • When applicable order, manage parts required for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and coordinate with Summit Parts team for core returns.

    • Evaluates reported aircraft discrepancies and develops appropriate repair or recovery plan.

    • Communicates a return to service estimate for AOG aircraft.

    • Monitors current aircraft hours and cycles ensure time-sensitive inspections and deferred items MEL/NEF/CDL expiration times are scheduled and not exceeded

    • Evaluate the individual aircraft schedules for opportunities to schedule service checks and cleanings.

    • Maintain and manage the aircraft due list and discrepancies/deferrals in the web-based flight schedule.

    • When applicable coordinate the process for aircraft ferry flights to a maintenance provider.

    • Audit all RTS paperwork and packages for aircraft being returned to service and file digital copies in Summit Aviation's digital filing system, ensure original paperwork is filed.

    • Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted with current FAA regulations and OEM approved data, when needed provide outside vendors with applicable data or references.

    • Other duties as assigned

    BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 7+ years of experience within general aviation maintenance operations, including Part 135, and equivalent operational experience to include familiarity with aircraft maintenance scheduling, team management, and customer relations

    • 5+ years in Supervisor or Management role

    • Must have knowledge of, and maintain a current file of all applicable FARs

    • Comprehensive understanding of aviation industry

    • Experience managing mixed-level team members of professionals and managers

    • Experience setting standards and operational guidelines

    • Extraordinary customer focus

    • Experience in Embraer operations

    • Experience with aircraft management record keeping programs including CAMP and Flight docs

    • Familiarity with requirements of 14 CFR Part 145, Part 135, Part 91, and Part 145 repair station

    • Interface and communicate well with customers, vendors, team members, flight crews, Chief Pilot, and Director of Operations

    • Strong people management, conflict resolution, and resource allocation skills

    • Extensive knowledge of current FAA regulations

    • Must meet the requirement of 14CFR 119.71

    CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Current FAA issued certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings and no violations

    • Ability to meet all FAA requirements and approval for the Director of Maintenance designation

    • Valid & Unrestricted Passport.

The expected base salary range for this role is$182,450.00- $227,550.00, which represents the company's current good-faith estimate of compensation for this position. Actual salary will depend on factors such as, but not limited to, candidate experience, qualifications, skills, and the specific work location. This role may also be eligible for bonuses, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, retirement savings, paid time off, and wellness resources).
