Job description

Position Information: The full-time Body Shop Manager is responsible for the operation of an efficient and profitable body shop department. S/he will operate the department at maximum production, controlling costs, building a loyal clientele, maintaining good employee relationships, setting and obtaining sales and profit objectives, and maintaining service records. The Body Shop Manager directs the activities of body shop employees in performing body repairs, time schedules, quality control, and productivity levels.

Successfully Maintain the following accountabilities

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Greet every customer, every day
  • Maintain high ethical standards when dealing with customers, co-workers and vendors
  • Put safety first. Adhere to all Safety Policies, Procedures and Personal Protective Equipment standards
  • Direct body shop employees in performing body repairs, including meeting time schedules and productivity levels and maintaining quality standards
  • Develop business through various sources and sales techniques to assure an adequate sales volume
  • Forecast goals and objectives for the department and lead team effort to attain
  • Prepare and administer monthly departmental budget
  • Understand, keep abreast of and comply with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA right-to-know, etc.
  • Hire, train, motivate, counsel, and maintain discipline of performance in body shop.
  • Direct and schedule the activities of all body shop employees
  • Provide technical assistance as needed
  • Conduct regular meetings with body shop employees to discuss activities and problems of mutual interest
  • Prepare payroll records/reports in a timely manner
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with Insurance companies
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business
  • Master use of dealership body shop software tools (CCC one, PBS, Paint and ADAS softwares)
  • Provide fair estimates on costs and time required for body work
  • Manage relationships with sublet companies
  • Handle all customer complaints as they arise
  • Manage profitability and condition of Rental Fleet.
  • Keep abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommend purchases
  • Prepare final billing for completed repair orders and accounts receivable for body repair work ensuring we are paid in a timely manner
  • Review completed jobs for proper documentation of labor times, event logs, costing.
  • Oversee parts and supplies process for optimum technician productivity
  • Maintain a safe, efficient and clean workspace, as well as ensuring the entire facility is orderly, and free of hazards

Requirements
Qualifications: Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. Two years of experience in an auto body repair facility. Working knowledge of body repair methods. One year of supervisory experience. Excellent communication and managerial skills.
Working Conditions: The Body Shop Manager will work at a desk which is enclosed in the body shop garage. They will be exposed to noise, vibration, paint, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
