Manufacturing Engineer - Technology & Manufacturing Center (Oak Ridge, TN)
Help shape the future of advanced manufacturing at our state-of-the-art Technology and Manufacturing Center in Oak Ridge. As a key member of our engineering team, you'll drive the processes, innovation, and continuous improvement efforts that keep our production operations running at peak performance.
This role reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and plays a central part in supporting production targets for components, assemblies, and complex machines.
What You Will Do:
  • Develop and refine routings, processes, and procedures for fabrication, assembly, and repair of sophisticated components
  • Lead product launch activities and ensure smooth transitions from design to production
  • Own performance targets for Availability, Quality, and Overall Operational Performance across manufacturing operations
  • Support and execute defined scopes of work for manufacturing activities
  • Champion continuous improvement-identifying opportunities in machining, fixturing, materials, tooling, coatings, coolants, and Lean methodologies
  • Document risks and gaps in future-state processes to ensure readiness and reliability
  • Lead planning, analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to design and optimize manufacturing processes
  • Develop specifications for fabrication materials and equipment
  • Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) activities and guide engineering package creation, review, and approval
  • Manage project deliverables, ensuring timelines and budgets stay on track
  • Uphold company policies, safety standards, security requirements, and environmental guidelines
What You Will Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience
  • Strong background in Lean manufacturing
  • Experience with manufacturing quality systems (NQA-1, ISO-TS, AS9001)
  • Familiarity with AIAG Core Tools
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Q Clearance

In addition, once employe, employees will become part of a random drug testing program and may also be tested in the event of any incident causing injury or causing damage to property, or if it is determined that there is a reasonable suspicion the employee is under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This position will require preemployment background check on the part of the Company and in order to receive a Q security clearance, a background investigation by the Federal government. Subsequent Federal government reinvestigations may be required.
