Title: Director of Emergency Services


Location: Houston, TX


Schedule: Full-Time, Days


Compensation: $130,000 – $145,000/year


Position Overview

A busy Houston-area hospital is seeking a Director of Emergency Services to lead a 28-bed Emergency Department with approximately 60 FTEs. The Director will oversee daily operations, ensure high-quality patient care, manage personnel and resources, and drive service excellence. The ideal candidate has recent ED leadership experience, energy, and a proven track record of operational success.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Emergency Department to deliver high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care
  • Monitor regulatory compliance, hospital policies, and accreditation standards
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development of team members
  • Participate in hospital committees, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives
  • Foster a positive, evidence-based, and patient-centered culture
  • Support recruitment and talent development within the ED
  • Address operational issues proactively and implement solutions


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Business Administration, or Healthcare Administration preferred
  • Current RN license in practicing state
  • 2+ years of recent (within last year) acute care ED Director experience; strong ED Manager candidates with 3–5 years may be considered
  • ACLS required
  • PALS or ENPC required
  • BLS required
