Job Description:
Apex Systems is looking to hire an ONSITE Manufacturing Engineer for our client based out of Dublin, VA.
This assignment is anticipated to be a 12-month contract with strong potential for extension; however, Apex Systems cannot guarantee the length of this assignment.
This will also have a first-shift Monday-Friday schedule.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support manufacturing process implementation activities to ensure safe, efficient, and stable production operations.
  • Provide engineering support for current production processes, new product introductions, engineering changes, and manufacturing trials.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize production methods, standards, tooling, equipment, and work instructions.
  • Evaluate manpower requirements and workforce placement to ensure balanced and efficient operations.
  • Drive improvements in safety, ergonomics, quality, productivity, and operational performance through process design and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with materials, engineering, operations, and manufacturing teams to improve material flow, line balance, and overall production efficiency.
  • Support product launches, prototype builds, and engineering change implementation activities.
  • Conduct process reviews and manufacturing design evaluations to ensure production readiness.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Lean Six Sigma principles to improve cost, quality, delivery, and productivity metrics.
  • Analyze manufacturing data and assembly operations to identify opportunities for process optimization and waste reduction.
  • Develop and maintain labor standards utilizing predetermined time systems such as MCTM and MOST.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, plant procedures, safety requirements, and operational policies.
  • Identify and execute cost reduction opportunities through process improvements, workstation design, and assembly optimization.
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentorship to engineers and production teams.
  • Lead engineering projects and initiatives to achieve manufacturing and business objectives.

Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of manufacturing engineering experience with a focus on production support, process improvement, and engineering implementation. OR Associate's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with 8+ years of manufacturing experience focused on engineering and production operations.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations, production processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma, and industrial engineering principles.
  • Experience performing time studies and developing labor standards using MCTM, MOST, or similar predetermined time systems.
  • Proven experience supporting new product launches, engineering changes, and manufacturing process development.
  • Ability to analyze production data and implement solutions that improve efficiency, quality, and throughput.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.
  • Experience working in fast-paced production or assembly environments.

  • Experience with assembly operations, line balancing, and workforce planning.
  • Knowledge of ergonomics and manufacturing safety improvements.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or formal continuous improvement training.
