Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Director, Accounting in Ladera Ranch, CA. The Director of Accounting leads the financial operations and reporting for a diverse portfolio of self-storage properties, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. This role is responsible for mentoring a high-performing team while driving process improvements and maintaining rigorous GAAP standards across consolidated financial statements.

Job Type: Permanent

Annual Salary: $140,000 to $160,000 Annually BOE

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals to foster a culture of accountability and growth.
  • Optimize and maintain accounting systems and software to ensure data integrity and operational efficiency.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and scalability across the accounting department.
  • Oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Prepare and review consolidated financial reports across multiple self-storage properties and entities.
  • Maintain strict compliance with GAAP and applicable real estate accounting standards.
  • Manage and review balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and intercompany transactions.
  • Monitor tenant billing, collections, and delinquency processes for the property portfolio.
  • Review and approve vendor payments, property-level expenses, and capital expenditures.
  • Assist with the budgeting process in collaboration with Operations, Acquisitions, and Property departments.

Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in a senior accounting leadership role, specifically within the real estate or asset management sector.
  • Expertise in GAAP and specialized real estate accounting standards.
  • Proven track record of managing consolidated financial reporting for multi-property portfolios.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, mentoring, and developing professional accounting staff.
  • Strong proficiency in optimizing and managing accounting systems and software.
  • Experience managing complex intercompany transactions and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments including Operations and Acquisitions for budgeting and financial planning.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, talk, and hear for prolonged periods.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
  • Specific vision abilities required for close-up computer work and reviewing detailed financial data.
  • Light to moderate lifting may be required occasionally.
