POSITION OVERVIEW



A high-growth, global enterprise software company — a recognized leader in their respective niche — is seeking a Director of Revenue Accounting to lead a world-class technical accounting team. This is a high-visibility role within a 250+ person international accounting organization, operating in a fast-paced, innovation-driven culture that blends the energy of a tech startup with the resources of a Fortune 100.


The Director reports to senior finance leadership and owns the end-to-end revenue recognition function, partnering with Sales, Legal, Finance, and Order Administration — and playing a strategic role in M&A transactions and new product launches.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a skilled team of 7 revenue accounting professionals
  • Promote a culture of resilience, operational excellence, and continuous improvement
  • Navigate the team through deadlines and evolving business priorities with confidence

Technical Revenue Accounting

  • Oversee the end-to-end revenue recognition process in compliance with ASC 606
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and deal review on complex revenue transactions
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for internal stakeholders across Sales, Finance, and Legal

Close, Reporting & Compliance

  • Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end revenue close — timely, accurate, and scalable
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition in ERP systems with robust account reconciliations
  • Manage financial disclosures related to revenue and partner with external auditors for high-quality audits

Strategic Partnerships

  • Play an integral role in M&A transactions and new product launches from a revenue accounting perspective
  • Advance scalable revenue accounting processes and systems in a fast-growing technology environment


IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

Experience: 12+ years of progressive accounting experience; mix of Big 4 / public accounting and technology industry preferred but not required

Education: CPA preferred; Bachelor's or Master's in Accounting or Finance

Technical: Deep expertise in ASC 606 — gained through technical advisory or hands-on industry experience

Systems: Experience with Tier 1 ERP system

Leadership: Proven track record building and developing high-performing teams in a global, fast-changing environment

Communication: Ability to distill complex accounting issues for senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners across cultures
