Job description

Description
The Senior Trust Officer provides senior leadership in the administration, management, and growth of the Trust Department. This role oversees the daily administration and asset management of Trust accounts while supervising, mentoring, and directing Trust Officers and support staff. The Senior Trust Officer maintains expert-level knowledge of trust laws, regulations, fiduciary standards, and best practices, ensuring full regulatory compliance and exceptional client service.
The Senior Trust Officer serves as a primary subject matter expert, leads complex and high net worth trust relationships, supports business development initiatives, and fosters strong relationships with beneficiaries, grantors, co-trustees, attorneys, CPAs, and internal business partners.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee trust administration, asset management, accounting, distributions, investments, and tax reporting, ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory, and fiduciary requirements.
  • Serve as Trust Officer for complex and high net worth accounts, acting as primary contact for beneficiaries and interested parties.
  • Review and approve trust documents, transactions, and Trust Officer work for accuracy, compliance, and adherence to governing instruments and internal policies.
  • Manage asset allocation, investment performance, and risk mitigation strategies in alignment with trust objectives.
  • Identify, address, and resolve complex issues, disputes, and sensitive trust matters.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop Trust Officers and staff, including workload allocation, performance management, training, and succession planning.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and retention of Trust department staff.
  • Ensure department wide compliance, internal controls, and best practices; assist with audits, regulatory exams, reports, and committee materials.
  • Meet with current and prospective clients to assess needs, recommend trust solutions, and support business development and referral efforts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with beneficiaries, attorneys, CPAs, internal partners, and community professionals; participate in branch visits and industry events.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in Trust administration.
  • Proven supervisory or leadership experience within a Trust or Wealth Management environment preferred.
  • Trust-related certification is preferred.
  • Proficiency in trust accounting software and other relevant technology.
  • Knowledge of state and federal trust regulations.
